Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the operational day-to-day activities in the rehabilitation department in the facility. This includes but is not limited to: operational supervision of all therapy personnel, interviewing and recommending new hires, and non-clinical training of all therapy personnel. DOR is responsible for implementation of new programs to meet the needs of the facility and the residents. Is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out all assigned duties in accordance with all company policies and local, state and federal laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Directly supervises and guides in an operational capacity all therapy personnel, in an assigned facility which would include licensed, registered, certified therapists, assistants, aides and students.
Daily scheduling for the department staff to meet the needs of the facility.
Works with supervisor to determine appropriate caseload in tandem with management responsibilities.
Assures that the rehabilitation needs of the residents are met in conjunction with the treating licensed therapists (RPT, OTR, SLP).
All therapy levels are determined by the evaluating licensed therapists (RPT, OTR, SLP) in accordance to what is clinically appropriate, and reports levels to DOR.
Adherence to all regulatory standards as they pertain to the delivery of rehabilitation services.
Conducts periodic department documentation review to ensure that all documentation is complete, timely, and accurately reflects the services provided.
Coordinates denials management activities of the department with Consultant to ensure that claims are timely and/or appeals timely and in accordance with company procedure.
Meets and or exceeds the productivity standards as established with supervisor.
Ensures that the services delivered are of the highest quality and meets all standards of practice.
Implements new treatment programs.
Monitors treatment programs in conjunction with the treating licensed therapists (RPT, OTR, SLP) for outcomes.
Assures that the department follows the established policies and procedures of the facility and the company.
Approves timecards and time worked by the department personnel.
Provides evaluation input on department employees as well as instrumental in relationship building with the local hospitals and referral sites.
Attends and participates in facility and company meetings as agreed to with facility and approved by the supervisor. (A licensed therapist (RPT, OTR, SLP) must be present at any and all meetings where the patient’s treatment goals, program plan, treatment progress and discharge plans are discussed with other treatment team members and decisions regarding program changes/additions occur.)
In-services all staff regarding safe work practices with emphasis on good body mechanics, safety, and judgement to minimize work related injuries.
Organizes rehabilitation orientation for new department personnel, ensures all paperwork is completed timely and distributed to the appropriate human resources personnel.
Completes billing documentation timely and accurately reflecting services provided in accordance with company standards.
Maintain compliance with all Federal (Title 22) and state regulations and company policies and procedures applicable to job duties.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards.
Encourage teamwork among all departments and assist with conflict resolution.
Present positive and professional image.
Per State of California regulations, as a “mandated reporter” you must report all known or suspected incidents of resident abuse of dependent adults or elders.
Performs other duties as assigned and consistent with the success of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Age Requirement:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Education:

Graduate of an approved curriculum in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy Assistant and/or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Good standing with any/all State licensing or regulatory boards.

First Aid Training as required.

Experience:

Prefer at least two (2) years experience as a therapist in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related medical facility. Additional experience in specialized dementia care preferred.

Mathematical/Reasoning

Skills:

Able to perform basic mathematical functions and resolve issues in stressful situations.

Communication Skills

Clearly and informatively communicate information to employees, residents, family members, and agencies. Able to listen to others and communicate their needs. Able to speak, read, and write English.

Computer Skills

Proficient in operating office equipment and computers including email, word processing, excel applications.

Working Conditions:

Well-lighted and with appropriate ventilation and temperature levels.

Other Requirement:

Employee must pass a criminal record clearance, health screening and drug testing prior to beginning work in the community.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to regularly listen and speak to individuals, sit and stand for long periods, move about the community, bend, reach, and grasp. May occasionally need to lift up to 100 lbs., and assist with pushing, helping or walking with residents. Good vision is required.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
