PT Intermediate Interior Designer

Are you passionate about high-end residential design and eager to contribute to extraordinary, bespoke spaces? Our Washington, DC-based interior design firm specializes in full-service, high-end residential projects. We are seeking a talented and driven Intermediate Level Interior Designer to join our growing team.

What You'll Do

You’ll work under the guidance of the Principal Designer and collaborate with the Director of Operations and Design team to execute projects from concept to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

Design Responsibilities:

Collaborate on design concepts, mood boards, and space planning
Prepare construction documents, finish schedules, and FF&E specifications
Assist in material, finish, and furniture selections within budget parameters
Produce 2D/3D drawings (AutoCAD required; Chief Architect or SketchUp preferred)
Support the creation of physical and digital client presentations
Attend site visits, vendor meetings, and design installations
Contribute to occasional marketing efforts such as photoshoots or social media content

Project Management Responsibilities:

Manage multiple high-end residential projects from site survey to final installation
Develop and maintain project scopes, timelines, and budgets
Serve as the primary contact for clients, trades, and vendors—coordinating schedules, tracking progress, and addressing issues as they arise
Oversee procurement and delivery logistics with the Director of Operations
Create and track proposals, invoices, and purchase orders

· Conduct site visits for measurements, QA/QC, and deficiency resolutions

Maintain project documentation including spec binders and finish schedules
Coordinate with contractors, workrooms, and fabricators on custom design elements
Manage ongoing project updates and client communications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture (required)
3–5 years of experience in residential interior design
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); SketchUp, Chief Architect a plus
Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Experience managing timelines, budgets, and design deliverables
Familiarity with custom millwork, furnishings, and high-end finishes
NCIDQ certification a plus, but not required

Additional Info

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and navigate stairs (our studio is on the first floor of a walk-up)
Hybrid work environment: combination of in-studio, on-site, and remote work
Office is near Dupont Circle Metro with limited street parking
Availability for occasional after-hours marketing events or installations
Ability to reliably commute to or live in the Washington, DC area is required

This is a part-time opportunity with an average of 20 hours per week currently available. There is a possible full-time opportunity for the right candidate. Hours will vary based on our project workload. Compensation will be based upon qualifications and experience.

Please note that our office is on the first floor of a building with no elevators and is only accessible via stairs from the street. Street parking is available but limited. We are proximal to Dupont Metro stop.
