Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Specialist, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and provider efficiency. In this vital role, you will coordinate the procurement, verification, and documentation of durable medical equipment, ensuring seamless service delivery. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical coding, insurance processes, and compliance standards will help us maintain the highest quality standards while supporting patients' mobility and independence. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of medical equipment management in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Duties

Verify insurance coverage and benefits for durable medical equipment requests through managed care providers and insurance carriers.
Process orders for DME items by accurately documenting medical records, prescriptions, and physician notes in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to ensure proper billing and reimbursement procedures are followed.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve coverage issues or claim denials efficiently.
Maintain detailed medical records related to DME prescriptions, delivery logs, and service history for compliance and audit purposes.
Ensure all documentation adheres to medical terminology standards and office procedures for accuracy and confidentiality.
Assist with office tasks such as insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and managing medical records related to DME services.

Requirements

Prior experience in a medical office setting with familiarity in medical terminology, medical records management, and office procedures.
Knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification protocols, and HIPAA compliance standards.
Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding practices for accurate billing.
Experience working with medical or dental offices is preferred; familiarity with medical billing software is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
