SUMMARY:
The CNC Operator produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, plans, materials, specifications.
· Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock, placing and expediting orders for stock, and verifying receipt of stock.
· Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
· Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock material into position.
· Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to proper standards.
· Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, taking measurements and detecting malfunctions and troubleshooting.
· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
· Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
· Must use eye protection and ear protection in this area at all times when operating machinery.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Possess basic math skills, measuring skills and ability to read a tape measure.
· Must be able to operate basic hand and power tools and read blueprints.
- Must be friendly, courteous, service-oriented, and flexible and enjoy working with a variety of staff.
- Must be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
· Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; work well under pressure; able to manage multiple projects
