A Personal Note from the Owner:

My name is Ron Guenther, and I’m the owner and founder of Haber & Guenther.

When I started Haber & Guenther more than a decade ago, my goal wasn’t simply to build another accounting firm. I wanted to build a firm that genuinely improves the lives of the people we serve.

Our mission is simple: help business owners become more profitable, pay less tax, and create a healthier balance between their work and personal lives. Over the years, we’ve grown from a traditional tax and accounting practice into a firm that provides year-round advisory services while continuing to deliver exceptional tax expertise. Tax and accounting remain the foundation of what we do, and they remain one of the most important ways we earn our clients’ trust.

As our firm continues to grow, I’m looking for an experienced tax professional who wants to become an important part of that journey. Your primary focus will be preparing tax returns, helping clients understand and navigate their tax situations, resolving tax notices, and serving as a trusted resource for the individuals and businesses we work with every day.

One of the things that makes our firm different is that we don’t believe our value comes from simply filing tax returns. We believe our value comes from building long-term relationships, solving problems, communicating proactively, and helping our clients make better financial decisions throughout the year.

About the Position:

Our immediate need is to add another experienced tax professional who can help us continue delivering the exceptional service our clients have come to expect.

I’m looking for someone who can become a trusted resource for our clients while taking ownership of a significant portion of our tax workload. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys preparing returns, meeting directly with clients, solving tax problems, and mentoring junior staff.

While our firm continues to expand its advisory services, your primary focus will be helping us deliver exceptional tax service to the individuals and businesses that trust us every day.

What You’ll Do:

Tax Preparation

Independently prepare individual income tax returns (Form 1040)
Independently prepare business tax returns (Forms 1120S, 1065, and related state returns)
Review tax returns prepared by junior staff
Research tax issues and identify practical solutions
Identify tax planning opportunities when appropriate

Client Meetings & Tax Guidance

Meet directly with individual tax clients to answer common tax questions and provide practical guidance
Explain tax concepts in a way clients understand
Build long-term client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service
Help clients make informed tax decisions throughout the year

Tax Resolution

Handle IRS and state tax notices
Research and resolve tax issues
Communicate directly with taxing authorities
Assist clients with payment plans, penalty abatements, and other tax resolution matters

Teamwork

Mentor and support junior accountants
Review staff work and provide constructive feedback
Delegate work appropriately while maintaining quality
Collaborate with teammates to ensure the best outcome for our clients
Help improve firm processes and workflows

Who We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate:

Has at least five years of public accounting or tax practice experience
Can independently prepare individual and business tax returns with minimal review
Enjoys meeting with clients and solving tax problems
Is confident communicating with clients, the IRS, and state taxing authorities
Understands the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and delegation
Wants to mentor and develop less experienced team members
Takes pride in building long-term client relationships
Exercises sound professional judgment and knows when to independently resolve an issue and when to seek additional input

EA or CPA license required.

Experience with tax notices, tax resolution, and taxpayer representation is highly valued.
