Full Job Description

Job Summary

C.P. Food Products, Inc. is seeking a hands-on sourcing and purchasing professional to support the international procurement of seafood, value-added food products, and other assigned categories.

This position will manage supplier relationships, product sourcing, cost negotiations, purchasing activities, and coordination of production and shipment schedules. The role works closely with Sales, Import, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Finance to ensure the right products are purchased at competitive costs and delivered according to customer and business requirements.

The position may be hired at the Assistant Manager or Manager level, depending on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical knowledge, and ability to independently manage suppliers and sourcing projects. Experience in seafood—particularly shrimp—and imported food products is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Source seafood, food products, and other assigned items from domestic and international suppliers.
Identify, evaluate, and develop qualified suppliers that meet cost, quality, capacity, compliance, and delivery requirements.
Request and evaluate quotations, product specifications, samples, and commercial proposals.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, production schedules, minimum-order quantities, and other purchasing conditions.
Prepare, review, and manage purchase orders, pro forma invoices, contracts, and related purchasing documents.
Monitor raw-material availability, production progress, container bookings, and shipment schedules.
Coordinate purchasing requirements and inventory planning with Sales, Import, Operations, and Finance.
Work with Quality Assurance on supplier approval, product specifications, packaging, labeling, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
Support new product development, customer-specific projects, product samples, and cost calculations.
Analyze product costs, market conditions, and supplier proposals to support pricing and margin decisions.
Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, service, and on-time delivery.
Maintain accurate supplier, product, and purchasing information in SAP or other ERP systems.
Identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities without compromising product quality or supply reliability.
Prepare sourcing reports, cost comparisons, and purchasing updates for management.
Depending on the level hired, lead sourcing projects, manage key supplier relationships, and guide junior team members.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, International Trade, Food Science, or a related field.
At least three years of relevant experience in sourcing, purchasing, procurement, international trade, or supply-chain operations.
Candidates with greater experience managing suppliers, negotiations, and sourcing strategies may be considered for the Manager level.
Experience sourcing seafood, particularly shrimp, is strongly preferred.
Experience with imported food products, food distribution, manufacturing, or international trading is preferred.
Experience working with international suppliers and coordinating ocean shipments is preferred.
Familiarity with purchase orders, import documentation, customs processes, container shipments, and inventory planning.
Experience using SAP or another ERP system is strongly preferred.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Ability to balance product cost, quality, inventory requirements, and delivery timelines.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple suppliers, products, and deadlines simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow issues through completion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications.
Ability to work effectively across Sales, Import, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Finance.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to work on-site in Columbia, Maryland.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
