Location: Port Angeles and Sequim, WA (not a remote position)

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Pay Range: $80,000 to $87,000 per year (DOE/DOQ)

Reports To: Child and Family Services Supervisor

Join Our Team

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative School-Based Mental Health Therapist to provide behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families within a school setting. This position is embedded within local schools and works closely with educators, families, and community partners to support the emotional well-being and academic success of students.

As part of our outpatient clinical team, you will provide assessments, treatment planning, individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, and care coordination while helping reduce barriers to accessing mental health services.

What You'll Do

Clinical Services:

Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based practices.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and screenings.
Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and outcomes.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
Facilitate student self-referrals and process referrals from school personnel.
Conduct suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention services.
Evaluate appropriateness of school-based treatment and coordinate referrals when additional services are needed.

School Collaboration:

Partner with school administrators, counselors, teachers, nurses, and special education teams to support student behavioral health needs.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including MTSS, Student Support Teams, IEP meetings, 504 plans, and behavioral intervention planning when clinically appropriate.
Provide consultation and guidance to school staff regarding behavioral health concerns, trauma-informed practices, and classroom support strategies.
Deliver psychoeducation groups, prevention programming, and classroom presentations focused on mental health and wellness.

Documentation & Compliance:

Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Ensure compliance with federal and state confidentiality regulations and agency policies.
Participate in case reviews, peer reviews, supervision, and team meetings.
Support agency quality assurance, contractual requirements, and productivity standards.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

Licensure:

Must hold or be eligible for Washington State credentialing as one of the following:

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA)
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA)
Or equivalent Washington State behavioral health associate credential

Experience:

Experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families.
Experience working with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness.
Knowledge of DSM diagnoses, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
Ability to provide required immunization records (MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, and current flu shot).

Preferred Qualifications

Independent Washington State license (LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT) or eligibility to obtain one.
Experience working in a school or educational setting.
Two or more years of clinical experience in behavioral health.
Experience treating co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders.
Experience facilitating group therapy.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based within a school setting and may include meetings in office and community locations. The role involves working with students and families experiencing a wide variety of behavioral health challenges and responding to crisis situations when necessary.
