Job Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Meat Market Counter Associate, (Must have experience) where you'll be at the forefront of delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality meat products. In this lively role, you'll assist customers with their selections, prepare and package fresh meats, and ensure our meat display is attractive, clean, and well-stocked. Your expertise in food handling, meat cutting, and food safety will help create a welcoming environment that keeps customers coming back. This position offers an energetic work atmosphere where your culinary skills and passion for food industry excellence will shine!

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance on meat products, cuts, and preparation methods
Operate meat processing machines safely to cut, trim, slice, and package various meats including beef, pork, poultry, and fish
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by following food safety sanitizing procedures throughout the work area
Ensure proper packaging of perishable goods with attention to weight accuracy and presentation standards
Conduct visual inspections for quality control, checking for freshness, proper color, texture, and signs of spoilage
Manage stock levels by replenishing display cases with fresh products while rotating perishable items to minimize waste
Assist in food preparation tasks such as trimming cuts and preparing specialty meat products according to store specifications
Follow all food safety management protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations and prevent cross-contamination
Use basic math skills to weigh products accurately and calculate pricing or portion sizes
Support other team members in food handling activities within the retail store environment or kitchen setting

Experience

Previous retail store experience preferred, especially in a grocery or specialty food setting
Hands-on experience with meat processing machine operation and butcher skills such as meat cutting, trimming, slicing technique, and visual inspection for quality control
Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and perishable goods management in a fast-paced environment
Culinary or kitchen experience that includes food preparation, knife skills, fish handling, or restaurant background is highly advantageous
Familiarity with food industry standards related to meat handling, packaging, and food safety management systems
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate product knowledge clearly and professionally
Basic understanding of food handling regulations to ensure compliance with health codes
