Metal Fabrication Detailer / CAD Designer

Join Our Team!

Metal fabrication company seeking a skilled Metal Fabrication Detailer to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has strong drafting and modeling skills, and understands how construction projects move from design through fabrication and installation.

This position plays a critical role in producing accurate shop drawings, fabrication details, and 3D models for architectural and structural metal projects.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed fabrication and shop drawings using AutoCAD and Rhino
Create accurate 2D and 3D models for custom metal fabrication projects
Interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications
Develop material takeoffs and assist with estimating as needed
Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, installers, architects, and contractors to resolve design and constructability issues
Revise drawings based on field measurements, RFIs, and project changes
Ensure drawings meet company standards, project specifications, and fabrication requirements
Support projects from concept through production and installation

Qualifications

2–3 years of professional experience using AutoCAD and Rhino
Experience detailing custom metal fabrication, architectural metals, structural steel, or similar construction-related products
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
Understanding of fabrication methods, welding, and construction practices
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ornamental metals, miscellaneous metals, or architectural metal systems
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and welding processes
Experience working in a fabrication shop environment
Familiarity with project management software and Microsoft Office
