About This Role

Join our dynamic child care center team as an Assistant Cook! As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting in meal preparation, menu planning, and maintaining the highest standards of kitchen operations. This part-time role is perfect for individuals looking for a challenging and fast-paced work environment, Monday to Friday.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Support the head cook in menu planning, ensuring a variety of nutritious and appealing meal options.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and quality of food presentation.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
Help with inventory management, including ordering supplies and tracking food usage.
Participate in training new kitchen staff as needed, sharing knowledge of culinary techniques and best practices.

Requirements

Experience in meal preparation is preferred, but we will train the right individual.

Skills we look for include:

Knowledge of menu planning and dietary aide responsibilities is a plus.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong understanding of food service operations, sanitation and quality standards.
Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration and communication.

Previous experience in meal preparation is a definite asset.
