JOB SUMMARY:
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations, leadership, and strategic direction of the community. This role ensures the health, safety, well-being, and quality of life of all residents while maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. The Executive Director creates and sustains a residential environment that is welcoming, home-like, safe, and supportive — fostering a resident-centered culture grounded in dignity, respect, and empowerment. This role promotes high staff morale and productivity, drives financial performance, and upholds exceptional internal and external customer satisfaction. The Executive Director leads with creativity, passion, and servant leadership, enriching the lives of older adults and cultivating a vibrant, fulfilling community. All leadership responsibilities are carried out in alignment with CIMA Senior Living’s cultural pillars and expectations of leadership, as detailed in the appendix to this job description.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field required.
- Current and active Administrator’s license in the state of operation, or the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe is preferred
- Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in a senior living or related health care setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations governing senior living communities, including licensing requirements, mandatory reporting obligations, and survey and inspection processes.
- Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, financial analysis, and reimbursement systems.
- Proficiency in labor management systems (e.g., UKG) and relevant software applications.
- Demonstrated written communication proficiency at a 12th grade to college level; the role requires the ability to produce formal written reports, regulatory correspondence, and sensitive investigative documentation — including abuse and neglect allegations, investigation findings, plans of correction, and mandatory reports to governing authorities — with accuracy, clarity, and a professional register appropriate to their legal and regulatory context.

- Awareness of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in senior living administration.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
Community Operations & Compliance
- Manages the overall performance of the community, including customer satisfaction, financial results, business operations, employee relations, and performance management.
- Manages resources to meet community targets including budget management, occupancy, staff retention, customer satisfaction, and resident wellness.
- Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols that comply with applicable state and federal regulations and industry best practices.
- Oversees department directors to ensure holistic, regulation-compliant care and services are delivered across all areas of the community.
- Ensures adequate staffing consistent with resident needs, budgetary guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the maintenance of community buildings and grounds to provide safe, attractive, and comfortable surroundings for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Enlists consultants (e.g., physicians, rehabilitation professionals) as needed or required by regulation; maintains consultant and vendor contracts and monitors their services for value and performance.
- Implements quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to continuously enhance the quality of care and services.
- Ensures compliance with all licensing, certification, and regulatory requirements; prepares and submits required reports to governing authorities; leads the community's response to periodic surveys and inspections, including the preparation of plans of correction and corrective action documentation.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records and documentation across all areas of community operation, including resident care records, staff training files, incident reports, investigation summaries, mandatory abuse and neglect reports, and regulatory correspondence; ensures documentation meets applicable legal and evidentiary standards.
- Stays informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in senior living administration and implements necessary adjustments.
- Participates in community committees, meetings, and professional organizations to promote collaboration and professional development.
- Serves as a member of the community’s emergency response team.
People Leadership & Culture
- Provides strategic leadership and direction to the community, modeling servant leadership in every interaction.
- Leads and delivers, with support of the leadership team, all staff orientation; ensures designated team members adequately prepare new co-workers to assume their duties.
- Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff members, promoting professional growth and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Motivates staff to perform consistently, achieve quality work, and maintain high satisfaction through regular communication, individual coaching, celebration of achievement, and learning from mistakes; maintains an open-door culture for staff concerns and grievances.
- Oversees continuing education and professional development of staff; maintains appropriate training documentation.

Resident Care & Services
- Monitors resident well-being, documents changes in health status, and coordinates necessary medical interventions and services.
- Collaborates with physicians, healthcare providers, and community resources to optimize resident care and outcomes.
- Assists residents with mobility and transfers as needed; able to respond to emergencies and perform first aid or CPR if required.
Regulatory Reporting & Documentation
- Prepares, reviews, and submits mandatory reports to applicable state and federal governing authorities, including but not limited to incident reports, abuse and neglect allegations, and other notifications required by regulation; ensures all submissions are timely, accurate, and complete.
- Conducts or oversees investigations into allegations of resident abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misappropriation of property; documents findings, conclusions, and corrective actions in a formal investigative record consistent with applicable legal and regulatory standards.
- Produces written plans of correction, corrective action plans, and regulatory response documents in the event of survey citations, complaint investigations, or other enforcement actions; ensures timely submission and follow-through on all commitments.
- Maintains working knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements under applicable state elder abuse, adult protective services, and licensing statutes; ensures all staff with reporting obligations receive appropriate training and that reports are made without delay.
- Drafts and reviews formal correspondence to residents, families, regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and other external stakeholders; ensures all written communications reflect the professional standards appropriate to their audience and purpose.
Work Environment:
Work is performed throughout the community, including administrative offices, resident living areas, common spaces, dining rooms, and outdoor grounds. The Executive Director spends significant time on the floor engaging with residents, families, and staff, and is regularly required to stand, walk, and move throughout the building. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. The role operates in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and concurrent priorities. There is potential for limited exposure to blood-borne pathogens, infectious disease, and other health care-related hazards inherent in a senior living setting. Travel within the community and to off-site locations may be required. Availability outside of standard business hours is expected to meet operational and emergency needs.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
