Summary:
Provides dance instruction for all levels of participants in a safe, engaging, and professional manner. Teaches proper dance techniques, movements, and routines through group and/or private instruction. Greets and serves all members and their guests in a professional and courteous manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Plans and conducts dance classes and/or private dance instruction for members and guests of varying ages, skill levels, and abilities.
· Tailors dance instruction to meet the individual needs, abilities, experience levels, and goals of participants.
· Provides clear instruction and proper demonstration of dance techniques, movements, steps, combinations, and routines.
· Teaches proper posture, alignment, balance, coordination, rhythm, and movement to promote safe and effective dance techniques.
· Develops engaging and age- and skill-appropriate lesson plans, choreography, and class routines.
· Provides individual attention, feedback, encouragement, and corrective instruction to participants as needed.
· Monitors participants during instruction and modifies movements or activities when appropriate to promote safety and prevent injury.
· Creates a welcoming, positive, and enjoyable class environment that encourages member participation and engagement.
· Maintains knowledge of current dance techniques, trends, teaching methods, and industry practices.
· Prepares the instructional area prior to classes and ensures the space is clean, organized, safe, and properly arranged.
· Ensures any equipment, music, or other materials used during instruction are properly maintained and used in a safe manner.
· Learns members’ names and builds positive relationships by encouraging and motivating participants.
· Adheres to industry standards and The Club’s policies regarding private instruction and member relationships, including refraining from soliciting members or guests for outside personal business.
· Provides 5-star service and maintains cooperative and professional working relationships with members, guests, co-workers, and other departments.
· Enforces Fitness Center and Wellness Department rules and follows all aspects of job safety.
· Knows and implements all emergency procedures including hurricane, inclement weather, fire, medical, and security as needed.
· Maintains accurate written records of all members and guests engaged in Dance Classes who are assigned to you. Records should provide a chronological case history of health advisory, assessments, blood pressure, resting heart rate, per iodization of their program, individual exercises prescribed detailing the type of equipment used, workloads, repetitions, and any other relevant information that the member/guest shares. Season and Off-season chart notes.
· Monitors clients and provides corrective assistance when necessary. Monitors respiration, skin color, perspiration, and other physical signs to ensure client safety.
· Participates in all staff trainings, special events, and fitness programs as planned by the Director of Salon, Spa, and Fitness.
· Communicates with members, co-workers, management, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
· Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
· Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Club at Admirals Cove.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Fitness Manager and Director of Wellness.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Requires broad knowledge of dance techniques, movements and instructional methods.
· Knowledge of proper body alignment, posture, coordination, rhythm and movement to ensure safe and effective instruction.
· Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
· Must be in excellent physical shape.
· Knowledge in all areas of fitness, wellness, and personal training programming.
· Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
· Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
· Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and members.
· Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience:
Associate degree (A.A.) or an equivalent to a two-year college or technical school; or two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to communicate well in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Reservation software.
Certificates and Licenses:
Group Fitness Certified or
Dance Specialist
CPR & AED Certification
