Full Job Description

St. Richard's is hiring licensed bus drivers to help transport students during the school and after school to field experiences and athletic events.

Position Summary

Part-time, as needed (averages bout 2-3 trips weekly during the 36-week school session). Some summer hours are also available.
Safely operate a school bus/special purpose bus for activities such as field trips and athletic events. Observe legal and defensive driving practices. Observe and obey speed limits. Drive efficiently and courteously on all roadways as directed, in all weather conditions.
Ensure the safety of all children and other authorized passengers while riding, as well as when entering and exiting the bus. Attend to any special needs of your passengers. Ensure the safety of those around you and the vehicle. Always be courteous and professional.
Know and apply safe driving techniques and requirements. Have knowledge of limitations and provisions of the DOT regulations, which pertain to the operation of commercial passenger transportation vehicles.
Maintain cleanliness of vehicle according to school policy.
Perform pre-/post-trip inspections, including interior and exterior of vehicle, including the engine compartment according to school policy.
Use only federally compliant devices for outside communication (hands-free Bluetooth or radio devices). Do not text or otherwise use a cell phone during the operation of a school bus or other vehicle.
Report promptly to work. Call to notify supervisor if unable to drive, allowing adequate time to find alternate transportation.
Maintain a driving record free of all major traffic citations, including no major "at fault" vehicle accidents. Report any moving or seat belt violations in a personal auto to safety immediately.
Report any concerns of abuse and/or neglect immediately to appropriate authorities.
Perform other work as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

2+ years previous experience in passenger transportation or similar field preferred.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
A valid Class B commercial driver's license with appropriate passenger transport endorsement. Evidence of a good driving record is required.
Must have and maintain a DOT medical card.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must possess and exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to drive in various weather conditions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 24 per week
