Full Job Description

Join Our Growing Firm:

We’re a growing midsize accounting firm serving clients across the United States and internationally — and we just moved into brand-new office space in the Village of Patchogue! We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Corporate Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team and grow their career in tax accounting alongside a collaborative group of professionals

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Corporate Manager, you’ll support tax compliance and financial reporting for a diverse client base, including corporations, trusts, estates, and partnerships.

Tax & Compliance

Assist with preparation of tax returns for corporations, trusts, estates, and partnerships, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Support external audits and year-end 990/tax filings by preparing schedules, explanations, and supporting materials

Accounting & Financial Reporting

Perform account reconciliations and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records
Reconcile client bank accounts and assist with month-end close procedures
Prepare journal entries, including payroll, depreciation, and prepaid item expensing
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including check requests, cash receipts, and general ledger coding review
Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations for asset, liability, revenue, and expense accounts
Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements — balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

What You Bring — Required

Minimum 4–5 years of experience in public accounting, with hands-on preparation of corporate, partnership, and/or trust & estate tax returns
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Working knowledge of corporate, trust, and estate tax rules and their financial statement implications
Practical experience with account reconciliations and general ledger accounting (month-end close, journal entries, AP/AR)
Direct experience with professional tax software — Thomson Reuters suite (UltraTax CS, Practice CS, FileCabinet CS, Workpapers CS) or a comparable platform (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem)
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online & Payroll and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)

Nice to Have

EA is helpful
Experience assisting with external audits or 990 filings
Adobe Acrobat experience and Excel for workpaper and document management

Also Important

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-facing mindset

Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven, matrixed environment

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
