Full Job Description

Make an immediate impact in the lives of students as a Sign Language Interpreter for an elementary-aged child in a supportive and dynamic school setting. This rewarding, contract opportunity runs from early August through late May and offers meaningful, one-on-one engagement—allowing you to focus your attention on meeting the needs of a single student throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

Valid EIPA credential with a minimum score of 4.0 required
Proven experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in elementary school settings
Exceptional fluency in American Sign Language and familiarity with educational interpreting standards
Commitment to in-person, on-site work (remote or virtual options are not available)
Ability to communicate, collaborate, and advocate effectively for students and with educational teams

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services for an elementary-aged student, facilitating communication between the student and peers, teachers, and staff
Adapt interpreting style to the needs and comprehension level of the assigned student
Ensure student access to curriculum, classroom activities, and all school communications
Partner with educators and support staff to promote inclusive learning environments
Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Document and communicate student progress as needed with the educational team

This is an excellent opportunity to work consistently during the academic year, gain specialized experience, and make a lasting difference in a student’s educational journey. The role is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week and is fully on-site only.
