Overview
We are seeking a semi-technical Revenue Accounting System Business Analyst to support financial and revenue accounting systems within a large enterprise environment. This role is not a traditional accounting or finance position. Instead, it focuses on supporting the systems, workflows, integrations, testing, and data validation processes that enable revenue accounting and finance operations.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with FinTech, payment, settlement, reconciliation, banking, credit card, transaction processing, or similar financial systems. This individual should be comfortable gathering and understanding functional requirements, writing and executing test scripts, validating system functionality, identifying defects, and ensuring that data flows correctly between systems.
A foundational understanding of accounting or finance processes is important; however, the key differentiator for this role is experience supporting the underlying systems and processes that produce accurate financial and accounting outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Functional Requirements Support
- Partner with business stakeholders, systems teams, developers, QA teams, and end users to understand functional requirements for revenue accounting and financial systems.
- Translate business needs into clear system requirements, test scenarios, user stories, support tickets, and process documentation.
- Support system enhancements, maintenance items, defect resolution, and new functionality impacting revenue accounting workflows.
- Analyze system behavior, business processes, data flows, and accounting outputs to identify gaps, risks, defects, or improvement opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and system changes align with business needs.
UAT, Test Scripts & System Validation
- Write, review, and execute test scripts for system enhancements, defects, integrations, reports, and production changes.
- Perform user acceptance testing and validation activities to confirm system functionality meets business and accounting requirements.
- Document test results, defects, data discrepancies, and system issues clearly and accurately.
- Track defects and enhancement requests through resolution using testing, ticketing, or project management tools.
- Validate that system updates, data feeds, integrations, and outputs function correctly prior to production implementation.
- Support post-implementation validation and assist with issue resolution after system deployments.
Financial Systems, Payments & Data Flow Support
- Support systems and workflows related to revenue accounting, payment processing, credit card settlement, reconciliation, transaction processing, or similar FinTech environments.
- Validate that data flows accurately between systems and that accounting outputs are complete, accurate, and aligned with business expectations.
- Assist with system integration testing, data reconciliation, and issue investigation across financial applications and related platforms.
- Analyze transaction-level data, settlement activity, system outputs, and reconciliation differences to identify root causes of issues.
- Partner with technical teams to troubleshoot application, data, interface, or workflow-related problems.
Project Coordination & Production Support
- Support production deployment activities for revenue accounting and financial systems, including readiness, testing, validation, and follow-up.
- Monitor project timelines, testing progress, open defects, and outstanding system issues.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to review requirements, testing status, defects, risks, and implementation plans.
- Provide production support by investigating reported issues, documenting findings, escalating concerns, and tracking resolution.
- Balance multiple priorities across system enhancements, testing cycles, production support, and stakeholder requests.
