Full Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide health services and support to students in our Early Global Program, serving children from Infant through Junior Kindergarten.

Responsibilities

Provide medically prescribed nursing interventions, including medication administration and daily care for ill or injured students.
Deliver first aid to students and staff and provide care for acutely ill children.
Monitor and manage communicable diseases while promoting a healthy school environment.
Consult with staff regarding medication administration, first aid, hygiene, communicable diseases, nutrition, and other health-related topics.
Ensure all student-specific health care plans, medical protocols, medication administration plans, and physician orders are current and compliant.
Communicate with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel during on-site emergencies.
Maintain accurate documentation of all student visits to the health office, including the nature of each visit and care provided.
Partner with the Program Principal to provide staff training in CPR, First Aid, EpiPen administration, emergency procedures, and field trip medication protocols.
Assist in developing, implementing, and communicating emergency response plans for staff and students.
Prepare required reports for school administration, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), and other regulatory agencies.
Perform health screenings, assess student health concerns, and implement appropriate first aid measures.
Ensure compliance with all applicable nursing procedures, school policies, and health protocols.
Maintain accurate student health and immunization records and monitor compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations.
Identify student health concerns, illnesses, and physical conditions, and conduct health evaluations as appropriate.
Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff when necessary.
Assume responsibility for appropriate intervention, evaluation, case management, referrals, and follow-up for students with health needs.
Maintain required health-related postings and documentation throughout the school.
Support teachers by providing health and nutrition education to students.
Conduct formal and informal health-related workshops and training sessions for faculty and staff.
Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student health concerns and recommend further medical evaluation when appropriate.
Collaborate with Executive, Early Global, and Elementary Directors to support student health and well-being.
Administer daily and prescribed medications and perform physician-ordered nursing procedures.
Work with school leadership to develop individualized health plans for students with special medical needs.
Orient new and returning staff on school health procedures and student-specific medical protocols.
Serve as a liaison between the school, families, healthcare providers, public health agencies, and community resources.
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards regarding bloodborne pathogens and exposure to potentially infectious materials through training and monitoring.

Qualifications

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (Massachusetts).
Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience; pediatric nursing experience preferred.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with young children, families, faculty, and staff.
