Tax Manager
Glenview, IL - Hybrid
$130,000 – $170,000

Everyone in public accounting expects busy season to be busy.

What people are starting to question is why it has to spill into the rest of the year as well.

This firm actually looked at that properly. They brought in an external consultant to review hours, engagement and turnover, then built things around what they found rather than just accepting it.

Busy season sits around 55 to 60 hours.
Outside of that, you are back to a normal working week.
Turnover is low because people are not burning out.

The client base is broad, which means there is flexibility in where this Manager role sits depending on your background and what you enjoy most.

If you enjoy more of a traditional generalist mix, there is plenty of that here. S Corps, partnerships, C Corps, pass through entities, closely held businesses, multi state work and owner managed clients across a range of industries.

Real estate is a particularly strong area for them. They work with a large number of real estate entities, so if your background includes real estate and you enjoy that side of tax, there is room to lean further into it.

There is also a strong high net worth and Trust & Estate area within the firm, including complex individual returns, trusts and estate work. If that is where your experience sits, there is scope to focus more heavily there as well.

What matters is that you are comfortable owning client relationships, reviewing work, and being the person clients rely on. You will have support around you, but you are trusted to run your work without being constantly pulled in different directions.

There is a real mix of profiles in the team. Some are true generalists who oversee everything from accounting through to tax. Others have built up their own client base over time and act more like a trusted advisor to their portfolio. There is space for both here, and the role can flex depending on your strengths and what you enjoy.

CPA or EA works.

The firm sits at that sweet spot between 50 - 100 people. Big enough to have a strong client base, specialist areas and proper support around you, but still small enough that you are known, your work is visible, and you are not lost in layers.

Partners are involved, approachable, and still close to the work. You are not waiting three levels up to get an answer or sign off.
