We have an amazing, small team of BCBAs and RBTs. With smaller caseloads, our BCBAs are able to provide our clients with high quality services. We have a collaborative culture where everyone is heard. This position will be school-based and/or center-based. Our hours are 8am-4pm. Home, school, or community setting consultation and coaching may be necessary at times as outlined in individual client treatment plan.
JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
CATEGORY: Non-Exempt – Hourly
REPORTS TO: Director
JOB PURPOSE: The BCBA provides direct therapy to clients and supervision to RBTs and
BTs. The BCBA oversees clinical integrity of the program and all service delivery activities that occur for assigned clients. This position participates in treatment team meetings, and is involved with providing functional behavior assessments and assist in defining treatment goals and interventions so change to be achieved is socially relevant and measurable. The BCBA oversees and sets up all data collection methods, and the compiling and analyzing of data to utilize in decision making. The BCBA provides training to staff on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies chosen to be used within the program to maintain integrity to the treatment philosophy. This position may also design and run parent groups, provide family consultation, provide direct client assessments, facilitate client groups, and provide clinical supervision to other direct line staff implementing this program.
*Additionally, school-based BCBAs consult with teams, support with IEP development, conduct FBAs, supervise RBTs, and collaborate with teachers to support students success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The BCBA’s actions directly impacts client success, client perception and satisfaction of the service, and overall success of Valley Behavioral Health and it’s relationship with stakeholders and the community. Adherence to the job functions listed below is essential to the success of the
BCBA.
Completes assessments with assigned clients
BCBA will conduct skills assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments, and baseline assessment of client’s skills and needs. BCBA will only conduct assessments they have been sufficiently trained on and will seek supervision for completing assessments they are not proficient with. Assessments will be utilized to develop treatment and behavior intervention plans.
Develops and trains team on treatment and behavior intervention plans
BCBA will write initial and subsequent treatment plans for each assigned client for each treatment period.
Treatment plans will be based on assessments completed, baseline data, and treatment priorities.
Implements treatment and behavior intervention plan
Implements interventions specified in plans to teach the client skills and reduce behaviors of concern in order to increase independence and quality of life.
Supervise Behavior Therapists and RBTs
BCBA will use coaching model (instructions, model, and provide feedback) to teach paraprofessionals assigned to case to accurately implement interventions. BCBA will conduct fidelity checks with therapists monthly to assess competency.
Coach parents, teachers, or other responsible adults
Support caregivers’ efforts and help to identify and tackle barriers to adherence to treatment plan. BCBA is expected to build rapport and respectfully coach family to success.
Effectively implement evidence-based interventions
Implement interventions to fidelity and will be evaluated on accurate implementation of interventions.
BT will be trained and supervised by BCBA who will coach BT by providing written instructions, modeling, and providing BT with feedback.
Collect and analyze relevant data as instructed
Accurately collect data on data sheets and in data systems as specified by treatment plan. Data collection and analysis a key aspect of treatment in order to determine treatment effects and necessity to change intervention. BCBA is expected to accurately report occurrences of behaviors and graph and analyze data at least weekly.
Effectively respond to emergency/crisis situations
Commit to ensuring the safety of the client, and the proper utilization of de-escalation skills, when needed.
Participates in required meetings, evaluations, supervision and trainings
Attend required supervisions, trainings and meetings as directed by supervisor. Meet all regulatory standards for training and supervision.
Completes all required clinical documentation
Complete session notes for all treatment sessions provided to client, as well as any additional documentation required.
Maintains assigned, planned schedule
Truthfully provides supervisor with availability upon hire and maintains constant communication with supervisor for any foreseen changes to schedule. BT also provides treatment sessions as scheduled with the family and maintains hours of caseload, per agreement with supervisor.
Engages in professional development opportunities
BCBA attends monthly team meetings for all clinical employees. BCBA also attends weekly clinical supervisor meetings. BCBA will complete necessary CEUs to maintain certification and continuously strive for enhancement of skills by actively participating in on-going supervision and training.
Adheres to professional and ethical interaction policies and procedures
Interacts professionally, ethically, and respectfully with clients and their family members, co-workers, and anyone who BT comes in contact with throughout work. BT will follow company policies regarding professional and ethical conduct. This includes maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with clients, using only interventions specified in treatment plans, and not recommending other treatments or providing opinion about treatments to client or caregivers. BT will be informed of entire ethical and professional code upon hire.
Maintains client confidentiality
Maintains client confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION
Master’s degree required.
Credentialed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required.
Credentialed as a Certified Ohio Behavior Analyst (COBA) by the Ohio Department of Psychology required. *School-based BCBAs have 90 days to obtain
EXPERIENCE
At least 3 year of experience in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred.
COMPETENCIES
Must be proficient in use of electronic health record system; must be able to make sound decisions to support clients in a calm and timely manner; must be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon client needs, and react quickly to prevent client injury or injury to another due to client behavior; must be able to respond to crisis quickly and calmly; must be proficient in communication skills and be able to interact professionally with families on a daily basis.
BACKGROUND CLEARANCES
Must provide clearances for state and area that the BCBA works within. BCBA must obtain
BCI and FBI background clearances and meet criteria to be eligible to work with children.

WORK LOCATION
Primarily center-based. Home, school, or community setting consultation and coaching – as outlined in individual client treatment plan. We also have School-based BCBA positions.

Up to 100% of travel between appointment sites or other locations – as outlined in program requirements

CONTROLS
This position reports to the Clinical Director and is accountable to licensing guidelines. This position is held accountable by regular audits completed by Owner and Office Manager.
