DEPARTMENT: Various FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Various CONTRACT TERMS:

SALARY SCHEDULE: System-wide APPROVED (HR):

PAY GRADE: REVISED (HR):

SUMMARY: Performs clerical work of a routine and varied nature with moderate but proficient typing,
and computer skills e.g., reports, business correspondence, forms and other matters; may file records and/or
reports; sorts and distributes mail, answers telephone; and performs other clerical duties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position. When
appropriate, reasonable accommodations will be provided to afford persons with disabilities an opportunity
to perform the essential functions of the position. The incumbent must demonstrate prompt and regular
work attendance. Absences must be authorized by the incumbent's supervisor in accordance with school
system procedures.

PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS ESTIMATED

Performs routine clerical assignments in accordance with established procedures and 35%
specific instructions provided by supervisor
Proofreads and enters data from various sources 10%
Performs basic mathematical calculations 10%
Operates all office machines and duplication equipment 15%
Answers telephones, transfers calls to appropriate persons; records and delivers 15%
messages; sorts and delivers mail
Maintains various reports, records, accounts, and/or files related to the operation of the 15%
work unit

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
May require:

Knowledge of current office best practices and procedures; use of office machines, computers and
equipment; proper and business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; methods and techniques used
in recordkeeping; principles and practices of supervision, organizational and department functions; and
WCSS guidelines and policies used in providing information

Skills in effective oral, written and interpersonal communication; taking and transcribing dictation and a
variety of materials that may include statements and minutes; composition, setting up and typing a variety
of correspondence, reports and other materials; processing information; and filing systems

Ability to perform a variety of secretarial assignments; meet and interact with various governmental
officials, students, parents, personnel and other visitors; handle routine tasks; operate and photocopier; use
basic computer applications; comprehend the work flow and interaction with other departments; prioritize
assignments; and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
No previous experience required.

PERFORMANCE FACTORS:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required

presented. Ability to adjust work processes without incident when new and unexpected directions are
given relative to a project that may be in process. Ability to maintain composure and not compound a

work steps or the final project.
