Full Job Description

Primary Nurse/RN/LPN

Job Title: RN/LPN

Department: Nursing

Overtime Status: Non-Exempt

Position reports to: Clinical Manager

Location of position: Wichita, KS

Position Summary:

The Primary Nurse cares for patients in accordance with Physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) orders and established policies and procedures. The Primary Nurse is responsible for coordinating and carrying out medical care as ordered by Physician’s and APP’s and within the scope outlined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities:

Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with Physician and APP orders
Coordinate and carry out medical care as ordered by Physician and APP in a professional and competent manner
Work directly with the Physician and APP to provide optimal patient outcome
Act as the liaison between Physician and patients, caregivers, and other members of the patient’s health care team
Assist Physician and APP with procedures as necessary
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and procedures
Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols and medication administration and storage procedures
Document patient care services by charting in patient records
Provide phone triage support as required
Effective communication with Physician, APP, patients, care givers and staff members
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
Communicate with and assist In-Office Dispensing department in regards to patient education, medication and durable medical equipment (DME)
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN Program
Current Licensure by the Kansas State Board of Nursing
Maintenance of Continuing Education Hours in accordance to Kansas State Board of Nursing Requirements
Previous EHR experience, preferred
Valid Kansas Driver’s License and BLS certification

Physical Requirements:

Skill in taking vital signs for age’s newborn to geriatric.
Skill in appropriate documentation and records maintenance.
Skill in usage of PC, multi-line phone, copier, fax, and printer.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply written guidelines and procedures to standard work practice.
Ability to speak effectively before individuals and/or groups.
Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
Must have good manual dexterity and ability to use both hands and tools to manipulate small and delicate parts.
Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing or walking may be required, should be able to transport approximately 0-25lbs of charts or files.
Occasional assistance in patient transfers of up to 200lbs with assistance.
