Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Resident Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate support, assist with daily activities, and foster a safe, engaging environment for residents. Your energy and empathy will help create a warm community where residents feel valued, respected, and cared for every day. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while making a positive impact on people's lives.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition, reporting concerns promptly.
Support residents with medication administration following prescribed protocols to ensure safety and compliance.
Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities, fostering a lively and inclusive community atmosphere.
Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to assist with resident transfers while adhering to proper lifting practices.
Maintain accurate documentation using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including care notes and incident reports.
Uphold safety standards through first aid and CPR certification, ensuring preparedness for emergencies at all times.

Requirements

Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and behavioral management techniques.
Ability to perform safe patient lifting practices, including heavy lifting when necessary.
Familiarity with vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic first aid/CPR certification.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is a plus.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
Valid driver’s license for driving duties related to resident outings or errands is preferred.
