Overview:

We are a growing sales and distribution organization seeking an experienced, strategic Operations Manager to take ownership of warehouse and distribution operations in the St. Louis market and contribute to operational leadership across an established multi-market footprint.

Who we are looking for: 
We are seeking an experienced operations leader with a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives, driving operational improvements, and managing high-impact projects. This is not a traditional warehouse management role. While experience leading warehouse and distribution teams is important, we are specifically looking for someone who has operated at a higher strategic level— someone who has led cross-functional initiatives, managed complex projects from planning through execution, and built scalable processes that support long-term growth. If you are proactive, organized, and thrive in an environment of autonomy, accountability, and continuous improvement, you'll excel in this role.

This role requires someone who can think beyond daily warehouse management and contribute to the long-term operational strategy of a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategic Initiatives

Provide strategic leadership for warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.
Identify operational challenges and develop solutions that improve productivity, quality, safety, and overall business performance.
Lead high-impact operational initiatives and cross-functional projects from planning through implementation, measuring results and driving continuous improvement.
Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs) that support consistency, accountability, and growth across multiple locations.
Evaluate operational performance and recommend strategies that align with company objectives and long-term growth.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement

Lead operational projects involving process improvement, workflow optimization, technology implementation, facility enhancements, and other strategic business initiatives.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing day-to-day operational priorities with long-term objectives.
Establish project timelines, coordinate cross-functional resources, and ensure initiatives are completed on time and deliver measurable results.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by challenging existing processes and implementing best practices.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve labor productivity, inventory accuracy, delivery performance, and operating costs.
Use data, reporting, and business insights to identify trends, solve problems, and support strategic decision-making.
Prepare operational reports and recommendations for leadership.

Team Leadership & Accountability

Lead, coach, and develop warehouse leadership and staff while fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching to achieve operational goals.
Build a collaborative, high-performing team focused on safety, customer service, and operational excellence.

Warehouse & Distribution Operations

Oversee receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, and delivery operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Maintain a safe, organized, and professional warehouse environment that reflects operational discipline and company standards.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.

Asset, Fleet & Facility Management

Oversee warehouse equipment, delivery fleet, and facility maintenance to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
Monitor routing, fleet utilization, and operational costs to improve efficiency and service performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with sales, finance, inventory, and executive leadership to align operational priorities with business objectives.
Support company-wide operational initiatives and standardize best practices across multiple locations.
Serve as a trusted operational leader by providing recommendations that improve business performance and support future growth.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain environments.
Proven experience leading cross-functional projects, process improvements, and strategic operational initiatives.
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through execution.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to use data to drive business results.
Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems (Sage preferred).
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
