Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Assistant to join our orthodontic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting orthodontic treatment, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create confident smiles while adhering to all safety and confidentiality protocols. Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and materials necessary for orthodontic procedures.
Assist the orthodontist during various treatments, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance repairs, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic procedures.
Manage patient records using EMR systems, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans, progress notes, and medical histories in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic appliances and provide post-treatment instructions to promote optimal results.
Process dental instruments through sterilization procedures following infection control standards and maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.

Skills

Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to orthodontics, pediatrics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
Proficiency in using dental software for dental documentation and records management.
Experience with dental x-ray techniques including panoramic and intraoral photos; familiarity with orthodontic imaging technology is a plus.
Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic technique to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Excellent communication skills as a dental assistant; capable of explaining treatment steps clearly while maintaining professionalism.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices relevant to dental clinics; understanding of HIPAA compliance is essential.
