Guest Services Representative (2nd Shift)

Flexible Schedule | Sales-Minded Service | Confident, Guest-Focused Communicator

We’re seeking a Guest Services Representative who brings heart, clarity, and initiative to the front desk. This role requires flexible availability for 2nd shift (3pm-11pm). If you're energized by helping people, tuned in to guest needs before they’re spoken, and able to stay calm and capable in any scenario, this might be your next home base.

Position Overview

As a Guest Services Representative, you are the ambassador of the hotel and the first impression guests receive. You’ll guide travelers through every step of their stay with warmth and precision, acting as a key connection point between the guest, our team, and our brand. Because the front desk receives a high volume of inquiries, you will also play a meaningful role in our sales culture by recognizing potential leads, identifying opportunities, and confidently promoting the services and amenities that elevate the guest experience.

This position blends hospitality, communication, and soft sales—approached through relationship-building rather than pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate inventories of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments.
Handle same-day and future reservations; understand and follow all cancellation procedures.
Master our room types, room locations, and rate structure to support both service and sales opportunities.
Register guests, assign rooms, and fulfill special requests with efficiency and genuine hospitality.
Identify guest needs, opportunities, or patterns that may align with group bookings, long-term stays, or corporate accounts; communicate these leads to management.
Communicate room status updates to Housekeeping; coordinate early arrivals, late checkouts, and special accommodations.
Partner with Maintenance to ensure timely completion of guestroom work orders.
Maintain awareness of daily hotel events, meetings, and local happenings to enhance guest support and engagement.
Use skilled de-escalation techniques and sound judgment to resolve concerns with poise and professionalism.
Process check-outs and handle monetary transactions with accuracy and compliance.
Protect guest confidentiality at all times.
Maintain a polished, professional appearance and uplifting presence.
Cross-train in additional hotel roles including Night Audit, Breakfast, and Bar as needed.
Provide directions, recommendations, and local knowledge with confidence and enthusiasm.
Maintain consistent communication between shifts and departments using email, the front-desk logbook, and daily shift summaries.
Perform other duties as needed to support smooth operations and exceptional guest care.

Qualifications

Previous hotel front desk experience preferred but not required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong communication skills and a warm, professional demeanor.
Familiarity with the local area and upcoming community events.
Understanding of proper credit, payment, and cash-handling procedures.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Outgoing, positive energy with the ability to stay calm, focused, and solution-oriented under pressure.
Natural relationship-builder with an interest in soft sales, upselling when appropriate, and recognizing leads.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when assisting guests with luggage.
Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays (night audit training available).
Comfort with front-office systems and learning new technology.
Professional telephone etiquette.
Ability to follow safety, emergency, and security protocols.
Ability to pass a post-offer background check and drug screening.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 30.0 per week
