Full Job Description

We are a fast-paced dermatology and cosmetic practice in Wilmington currently looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to support our dynamic team and provide exceptional service to our patients. The ideal candidate will bring a positive attitude and compassionate approach to patient care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Guide patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, preparing for exams, etc. Collect patient information/history.
Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures.
Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Assist physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc.).
Scribe/Document for physician while in the room.
Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patients, and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave.
Collect and accurately process specimens.
Handle medication refills.
Maintain and stock patient rooms.
Triage patient calls.
Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Able to triage patient problems.
Be familiar and compliant with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
Experience administering injections.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent in English.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or GED required.
CPR certified preferred.
1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
