Full Job Description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) – ASL Required

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–2:00 PM (30 hours/week), with occasional weekend shifts
Location: Rocky Mount, NC

Position Summary

A Caring Heart Case Management, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized support for an adult in our Rocky Mount day program. This role involves assisting the individual throughout the day and ensuring safe transportation at the end of the program. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping others and promoting independence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide compassionate care, supervision, and daily support.
Assist with daily activities, community outings, personal care, and recreational engagement.
Implement approved ISP (Individual Support Plan) goals throughout the day.
Provide structured, purposeful activities aligned with short-range goals.
Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive environment that promotes independence.
Complete accurate, detailed, and timely service notes (PIE/service documentation required).
Transport the member at the end of the day to their mother’s workplace in Rocky Mount.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
Reliable transportation.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to pass a background check.
Minimum 1 year of DSP experience required.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
Strong analytical and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, professionally, and reliably.

Position Details

Part-time (30 hours per week).

Experience Required

Staff must be able to speak American Sign Language (ASL), as the member is deaf.
Staff should have at least 2 years of experience working with the IDD population, as this member may present behavioral challenges at times.

Special Instructions

Member resides in Rocky Mount.
A special rate has been approved by J. Moore due to the ASL requirement.

Pay & Benefits

Pay: $15.00–$17.00 per hour (based on experience; previously approved by Jennifer Moore).
Paid mileage reimbursement.
Training provided by A Caring Heart Case Management, Inc.

Transportation Note

The member is dropped off at the day program in the morning. The DSP will be responsible for transporting the member at the end of the day to their mother’s workplace.

Training Requirements: This position requires successful completion of four paid training days (including Onboarding, in-person CPR/First Aid or Safety Care sessions, and one at-home Relias module). Training days may not be consecutive, and travel up to one hour may be required depending on the location. Compensation is provided if travel is required and attendance is confirmed. All training must be completed prior to starting your official schedule. Are you able to meet these training requirements?
