Position Title: Medical Assistant

About Blue Sky MD

Blue Sky MD is an innovative healthcare provider of high quality, medically effective weight management and bio-identical hormone replacement. Blue Sky MD utilizes a team consisting of Medical Doctors, Physician Assistants, Family Nurse Practitioners, and other Wellness Coaches and Medical Assistants with varying graduate and post-graduate degrees. The offering of services at Blue Sky MD embodies a preventive approach to assist patients with chronic medical issues due to weight or inadequate hormones.

Medical Assistant Job Summary:

Blue Sky MD Medical Assistants sustain the operational flow of the clinic by supporting both Wellness Coaches as well as Medical Providers. The Medical Assistant is a core role within the organization and is integral to the support and care of all of our patients. Blue Sky MD Medical Assistants must be a multi-faceted employee and able to cross-train and assist in a variety of functions within the organization

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

The Blue Sky MD Medical Assistant position will have the following job responsibilities:

· Schedule patients/Nurse Closure and coordinate outside referrals

· Collecting Copays for telehealth visits

· Facilitate workflow for patient and practice efficiency

· Cross-train to cover both Wellness Coaches and Medical Providers

· Obtain vitals, provide injections, and taking electrocardiograms

· Assisting during physical exams and/or procedures

· Sterilization of medical instruments

· Assist nurse phone extensions and create appropriate telephone encounters for in-office messaging

· Explain medical procedures to patients

· Maintain annual consents on file for procedure visits

· Submitting all prescriptions to pharmacies and checking daily verification outbox in EMR

· Complete assessment and flow forms and maintain medical records

· Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed

· Maintain treatment rooms

· Maintaining schedule and Superbill preparation two days in advance

· Utilizing electronic medical record software to input and maintain patient records

· Cross-train to assist other positions within the clinic, i.e. phlebotomy, front desk, etc.

· Other duties may be assigned according to business needs

Education Required:

Minimum: High School or equivalent

Preferred: Associate's degree

Experience Required:

· 3 years in a Primary Care, Dermatology, Urgent Care, and/or Emergency Care setting

· Experience with typing and computer applications, including Electronic Medical Records

· Excellent grammatical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask also important

Compensation:

· Commensurate with experience

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking. Assists with lifting and moving patients as necessary. Lifts supplies/equipment up to 20lbs, occasionally, and/or up to 10lbs frequently. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
