The City of Oshkosh is seeking a skilled and motivated Public Works Operations Supervisor to oversee daily field operations within the Field Operations Division. This position supervises crews responsible for roadway maintenance, snow and ice control, stormwater drainage maintenance, sanitary sewer maintenance, water distribution system maintenance, special event support, and other work involving City-owned infrastructure.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with experience in public works operations, utility infrastructure, street maintenance, and field crew supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead daily field operations by planning and assigning work, equipment, and staff for roadway maintenance, water utility work, snow and ice control, emergency repairs, leaf collection, mowing, and stormwater basin maintenance; inspect work sites and adjust priorities as needed.
Supervise and develop staff through training, coaching, performance evaluations, scheduling, time and leave oversight, and participation in hiring and onboarding.
Oversee customer service and coordination efforts by managing service requests, water service activities, meter programs, complaint resolution, and coordination with Engineering, other departments, and contractors.
Support division administration and City operations by assisting with purchasing, inventory, equipment and material specifications, budget preparation, and operational support during peak workloads, emergencies, and special events.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Applied Science, Public Administration, Water Resources, or a related field is highly preferred.
Three or more years of experience in the construction and maintenance of water distribution systems and/or general street maintenance, including lead or supervisory experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. A Wisconsin Class A CDL without an air brake restriction is preferred.
