Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a wide range of legal practices, including estate planning, litigation, family law, and more. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a strong passion for legal research and administrative excellence. As a vital member of our law office, you will assist attorneys with case management, document review, legal drafting, and client communication to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.

Duties

Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys and legal staff, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development across various practice areas.
Assist with document review, drafting contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents while ensuring accuracy through proofreading and transcription.
Support litigation processes by preparing discovery documents, organizing evidence, and assisting with trial preparation.
Conduct client interviews and gather relevant information to facilitate case development; communicate effectively with clients while maintaining confidentiality.
Perform data entry tasks related to case management systems; ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.
Handle clerical responsibilities such as filing, faxing, copying, and maintaining organized office workflows.
Maintain professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients and courts.

Requirements

Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a fast-paced law office environment.
Strong knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, family law, landlord-tenant law, personal injury law, and litigation procedures.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Exceptional computer skills and strong proofreading abilities.
Familiarity with data entry tasks and clerical functions within a busy legal setting.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge of legal administrative procedures including filing systems (both electronic and paper-based) and record keeping standards.
Effective communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette; ability to interact confidently with clients and team members alike.
