Full Job Description

Finishing / Bench Hand

Position Summary

The Finishing / Bench Hand is responsible for performing secondary operations on machined components to ensure they meet customer specifications and company quality standards. This position includes deburring, polishing, assembly, cleaning, inspection, and packaging of precision machined parts while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Deburr machined parts using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, files, sanders, and abrasive media.
Remove sharp edges, burrs, and machining marks while maintaining dimensional integrity.
Perform polishing, blending, sanding, and cosmetic finishing as required by customer specifications.
Clean parts using approved solvents, ultrasonic cleaners, or wash systems.
Perform tapping, reaming, countersinking, and other light secondary machining operations.
Assemble simple components using prints and work instructions.
Verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other inspection equipment.
Perform visual inspections to identify defects such as scratches, dents, tool marks, burrs, or surface imperfections.
Maintain part traceability and complete required production documentation.
Package finished products according to customer requirements to prevent damage during shipment.
Report quality issues, damaged parts, or process concerns to supervision.
Maintain work area using 5S principles.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Assist machine operators and other departments as workload requires.

Required Skills

Ability to read basic blueprints and work instructions.
Knowledge of deburring and finishing techniques.
Experience using hand tools and power tools safely.
Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to recognize cosmetic and dimensional defects.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand for extended periods.
Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Frequent use of hands for fine manipulation.
Good vision (corrected if necessary) to inspect small details.
Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
Ability to work around machinery, coolants, and metal chips while following safety procedures.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
