Full Job Description

The Town of Southborough, MA is seeking applicants for a part-time (19.5 hours per week) Administrative Assistant who will provide skilled administrative support in the Town Clerk's office.

Pay range: $24.47-$32.27; Hiring range: $24.47 - $28.10 per hour.

This position responds to resident inquiries, prepares and manages birth, death and marriage records, dog licenses, voter lists, board and committee meeting records, and provides support to several town departments, boards and committees on departmental tasks.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of working effectively with the public, providing excellent customer service and resolving concerns quickly, tactfully and effectively. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a detailed and accurate manner is essential. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated history of improving office efficiency and productivity through innovation.

The Town Clerk’s office consists of the Town Clerk, the Deputy Town Clerk, a part-time Administrative Assistant, a part-time Digital Archivist, several part-time senior citizen workers, and a large group of election workers during election periods.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Access is required.

Education, Experience, Special Requirements :

A BS/BA college degree is preferred
Four years of progressively responsible private sector/public/municipal sector experience
Must be eligible to be bonded
CORI check will be performed
A valid driver’s license is required

This 19.5 hours per week part-time position does not include benefits or paid leave.

The hours for this in-person position will be Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 12:30pm, Friday 8:30am to 12:00pm. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Additionally, roughly 3 to 4 times per year, this position requires working until 10:00pm on a weeknight or working on a Saturday or Sunday to support election and town meeting activity.
