Full Job Description

Overview
A well-established electrical contractor serving the New York City and tri-state area is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its team. This role is essential in securing new work by managing the full estimating process—from initial bid invitations through final proposal submission and client follow-up.

The company specializes in commercial renovation projects ranging from $50K to $2.5M, including office fit-outs, retail spaces, restaurants, higher education facilities, and high-end residential properties.

Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive electrical estimates by reviewing project plans, specifications, and contract documents using industry-standard tools.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical materials and labor costs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Analyze project requirements in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and construction best practices.
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing, scope adjustments, and contract terms that align with project budgets.
Assist in cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle by monitoring expenses and updating estimates as needed.
Prepare bid proposals that clearly outline scope, costs, and timelines to support winning new business opportunities.
Support project management teams by providing accurate cost data for scheduling, procurement, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on electrical systems; familiarity with construction site operations is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of construction estimating software such as HeavyBid; proficiency in Bluebeam is a plus.
Solid understanding of NEC standards, electrical codes, and safety regulations relevant to construction projects.
Demonstrated ability in negotiation to secure favorable pricing and contractual terms.
Experience with cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and contract management within the construction industry.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members, clients, and vendors.
Electrical experience combined with construction management or project management background is preferred.
