Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Admissions Director to lead the admissions department within our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing census, building referral relationships, managing the admissions process, and ensuring a seamless transition for residents and their families.

The Admissions Director will serve as the primary liaison between hospitals, physicians, families, referral sources, and the interdisciplinary care team to facilitate admissions while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations. This individual will play a vital role in driving occupancy, enhancing the resident experience, and supporting the facility's mission of providing exceptional long-term and post-acute care.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the admissions process, from referral through admission and resident transition.
Coordinate timely evaluations of prospective residents to determine eligibility and appropriate placement.
Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, assisted living communities, and other referral sources to support census growth.
Develop and implement strategic marketing and census development initiatives.
Guide residents and families through the admission process with professionalism, compassion, and excellent customer service.
Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Therapy, Business Office, and Clinical teams to ensure smooth admissions and continuity of care.
Verify insurance coverage, coordinate authorizations when applicable, and ensure all admission documentation is accurate and complete.
Maintain compliance with CMS, state regulations, HIPAA, and facility policies regarding admissions and resident records.
Utilize electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems to maintain accurate documentation and resident information.
Monitor occupancy trends, referral conversion rates, and admissions metrics, providing regular reports to leadership.
Supervise admissions staff as applicable, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
Represent the facility at community events, networking opportunities, and referral meetings to strengthen community partnerships and increase referrals.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Admissions Director in a skilled nursing facility or nursing home is required.
Proven success in increasing and maintaining facility census.
Thorough knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and authorization processes.
Strong understanding of skilled nursing regulations, CMS guidelines, HIPAA, and long-term care compliance requirements.
Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and admissions management software.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Established relationships with local hospitals, healthcare providers, and referral networks.
Experience with post-acute care admissions, managed care organizations, and census development strategies.
Knowledge of PointClickCare or other long-term care electronic health record systems is preferred.
