Primary Purpose of the Position
The Area Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead a team of Mobile Automotive Technicians to drive increased production, ensure high-quality service, and expand the customer base within the assigned territory. This role serves as the local face of the Company, representing its values and reputation in all customer interactions. The Area Manager is also responsible for identifying market trends and opportunities through sales analysis to support continued growth and operational excellence.
Essential Functions
· Leadership and Team Development
o Performs onboarding of new technicians within the assigned territory.
o Manages technician coverage for assigned territory including issuing approval or rejection for PTO requests.
o Supports operations by providing service coverage in areas experiencing limited technician availability.
§ This may include short-notice assignments and travel to various locations as business needs dictate.
o Encourages and supports technicians in pursuit of applicable certifications.
o Ensures team compliance with Company policies, procedures, and performance standards and issues appropriate disciplinary or corrective action as needed.
o Identifies team’s needs and escalates appropriately as needed.
o Communicates daily with team to ensure technicians are equipped with proper tooling and to identify any additional needs or concerns.
o Performs in-person ride-along with each technician on a quarterly basis.
o Leads mandatory weekly market meetings with team.
o Maintains supportive and inclusive culture that values employee feedback and open two-way communication.
o Trains and develops technicians to exceed performance standards and encourages advancement within the Company.
o Drive market performance by monitoring productivity, quality, and financial results, and holding technicians accountable to established goals.
o Performs offboarding of technicians within the assigned territory.
· Market Growth and Client Relations
o Visits customers’ shops to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain positive relationships.
o Receives and responds in an appropriate and timely manner to customer concerns and complaints.
o Analyzes sales data to identify viability of new markets and pursues market expansion through visiting potential customers’ shops and cold calls.
o Inputs credits and makes other necessary edits to invoices as needed.
o Visits customers’ shops to discuss Accounts Receivable matters.
· Safety
o Ensures that technicians complete required safety training online.
o Leads monthly safety topic lessons with technicians.
o Completes fleet vehicle inspections in accordance with set guidelines.
· Industry Expertise and Quality Control
o Serves as subject matter expert on industry standards and OEM requirements.
o Reviews technicians’ work orders and invoices for quality assurance.
o Audits technicians’ performance to ensure on-site calibrations are performed to industry standards and no deviations are employed.
o Reviews and manages necessary documentation through NASTF.
o Maintains specialty tooling log for assigned territory.
o Inventories technicians’ tooling and equipment on quarterly basis.

Required Skills and Abilities
· Reliable and consistent attendance.

· Solid automotive electrical and mechanical knowledge.
· Professional attitude and demeanor.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain an orderly work environment.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
· 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience required.
· Demonstrated ability to coach employees, manage performance, and address workplace issues professionally.
· Working knowledge of automotive diagnostics, calibration, or mechanical services preferred.
· Ability to understand and apply basic business concepts including productivity, cost control, and customer impact.
· Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
· Experience with scheduling, job coordination, or workflow management preferred.
· ASE and I-CAR certifications preferred.

Location: Varies
Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises a team of mobile automotive technicians.
FLSA Status: This position is exempt.
Work Environment: This position typically operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These hours may fluctuate based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Work is performed in a shop environment where employees may be exposed to loud noise and varying temperatures. The role often involves working in awkward positions, including underneath vehicles at times. Employees must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, stoop, reach, push, and pull for extended periods of time to perform essential job duties safely and effectively.
Travel: Travel outside of the normal operating area may be required on occasion to meet operational needs, attend training, or support Company projects.
