Skilled Manual Mill Operator

We are currently seeking experienced candidates for a Skilled Manual Mill Operator position at a local steel mill in Youngstown, OH. This role is ideal for those with a solid background in machining and a keen eye for detail, looking to apply their skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You’ll work on-site at our Youngstown facility, observing and adjusting milling machines to meet exact specifications. Hours:
2nd Shift (12:00 AM to 12:00 PM)

Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Position and secure workpieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools, and hoists.
Remove workpieces from machines and verify they meet specifications with gauges, calipers, microscopes, and micrometers.
Verify alignment of workpieces using measurement tools such as rules, gauges, or calipers.
Manually move cutters or material by turning handwheels or engage automatic feeding mechanisms to mill workpieces to specifications.
Monitor gauges, dials, and indicators to ensure proper machine functioning.
Assess performance and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
Control operations of equipment or systems.
Align parts or workpieces for proper assembly.
Monitor equipment to prevent flaws in finished products.
Study machining instructions, blueprints, or job orders to determine specifications and tooling requirements.
Change worn cutting tools with wrenches and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cut according to instructions and metal properties.
Install tools in spindles for efficient operation.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 1 year of Manual Mill experience
Experience in using hand tools and measuring instruments
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
Basic organizational skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings
Familiarity with CNC machinery and automatic controls

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment

Other Requirements:

Respond quickly to sounds and visual cues, including dangerous situations
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
Physical ability to stand, bend, and work in an on-site manufacturing environment
