Chef - Kitchen Manager (Abilene, TX)

Pioneer College Caterers is seeking is seeking a talented and dedicated Chef-KItchen Manager to oversee its culinary operations and support a range of high-end catering events at McMurray University in Abilen, TX.. This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who values creativity, consistency, and genuine hospitality.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team, crafting thoughtful menus, and creating memorable dining experiences that balance flavor, presentation, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Responsible for food at all operations (resident dining, coffee shop, Grab-n-Go, Grill)
Use of PCC systems
Advanced planning
Ability to determine food cost, portion costs and labor
Ability to create and extend recipes
Exceeding all Health Department requirements (temp logs included)
Oversee, assist with & coordinate daily prep & production for board and catering.
Must maintain high sanitation standards
Take a weekly physical inventory
Assisting the director with financial performance and controls of all costs (food, labor, expenses).
Assists with menu revisions, pre-costing
Create new and exciting menu’s, Bonus Bites to enhance our service & program throughout the year.
Hands-on kitchen assistance, coaching, and training to strengthen your team / staff
Must be comfortable interacting with students and faculty/staff in the dining room…must be extroverted
Must understand and work with our technology (spreadsheets, POS systems, on-line ordering)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the objectives of the Pioneer team
Flexible and open to change
Professional demeanor / dress / leadership always and in all situations
Organized…strong verbal and written communicator…focused on achieving results through delegation and follow-up
Responsible for weekly purchasing and competitive bid process, and keeping inventory levels or belong budgeted expectations
Seeking an individual to train and develop all kitchen staff
Must create a POSITIVE work environment for ALL employees
Seeking applicants with experience in higher education/resident dining, catering, and retail operation
Current Serve Safe Certification required.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in high-volume cooking and high-end catering
Culinary certification or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience
Proven leadership and communication skills
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
