Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The RGS Landscape Architect is responsible for planning and designing a wide range of outdoor spaces and site development plans. They combine artistic and technical skills to ensure aesthetically pleasing and functional design solutions. Projects range from small scale gardens to large scale land planning designs in both urban and rural settings. Responsibilities include development of conceptual designs, using CAD software to draw plans, development of site grading solutions, construction detailing, planting designs, construction administration and observation, and report writing.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Research, review, and interpret local Zoning, Subdivision & Land Development ordinances
Perform site layout, grading, and road design within AutoCAD C3D (or the ability to oversee this aspect with a drafter/designer)
Understanding of utility layout, profiling, and detailing for gravity sanitary sewer and water systems
Prepare planting plans
Prepare compelling presentation graphics/ renderings
Prepare lighting design
Material and site furniture selections
Understanding of stormwater conveyance design, detailing, and computations
Understanding of erosion and sediment control facility design, detailing, and computations
Prepare opinions of probable cost
Provide construction phase services including oversight during construction of site related features and planting plans, shop drawing review, RFI responses, CSK preparation, etc.
Prepare as-built record plans for submission to local, state, and federal agencies

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

· Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Adept in the use of CAD software

· Adept in active listening and critical thinking

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to prioritize tasks when appropriate

· Ability to function well in a high-paced professional environment

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, or related field
Registration required
0-5 years of related experience

Position Details

Salary commensurate with experience
40 hours per week
Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, dependent upon project work

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Occasional project site visits and exposure to weather
