Full Job Description

Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) or LCAS-A
Department: Clinical
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor
Salary: Exempt

Position Overview: Lead Clinician

The Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) or LCAS-A plays a key role in providing therapeutic services and overseeing patient care in ARCA’s therapeutic community. This role serves as the primary caregiver for assigned patients and acts as a resource for staff regarding patient activities. The ideal candidate will be adept at interacting with diverse populations, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be knowledgeable in substance abuse treatment strategies and the 12-step recovery model, and be familiar with federal confidentiality standards. This position will include working alongside Clinical Supervisor as the Lead Therapist on the Clinical Team.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Master’s degree required.
Licensure: Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor or Associate-level LCAS.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of supervised substance abuse counseling experience.
References: Two letters of reference from LCAS professionals with master’s degrees.
Certification: Passed the written exam by NCSAPPB (if an associate-level clinician).
Code of Ethics: Signed statement attesting to adherence to the Board’s Code of Ethical Conduct.
Knowledge Base:
Counseling theories and the helping process.
12-step self-help groups and philosophies.
Research-based treatment approaches.
Person-centered treatment planning.
Skills:
Proficient in clinical documentation and computer applications.
Strong communication skills, including active listening and verbal interaction.
Competence in interviewing clients and addressing specific needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessments: Conduct initial comprehensive clinical assessments to determine treatment suitability.
Individual Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling to help patients identify problems, develop treatment plans, resolve issues, plan discharges, and arrange referrals and aftercare.
Group Counseling: Lead group therapy sessions and psychoeducational activities.
Documentation: Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough patient care records.
Communication: Provide written and oral correspondence about patient care (adhering to confidentiality guidelines).
Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, seeking consultation and supervision for patient care.
Professional Development: Attend training and educational programs to enhance skills and maintain certifications.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of ARCA.
