As KP continues to expand its academic and workforce development programs across the United States, we are seeking experienced and passionate Adjunct Professors to support instruction across a variety of disciplines, including Cybersecurity, Business, Information Technology, Healthcare, Leadership, Workforce Development, Professional Development, and other specialized subject areas.
Position Summary
The Adjunct Professor serves as a part-time faculty member responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering student engagement, and supporting learner success in both academic and workforce-oriented programs. Adjunct Professors provide students with practical knowledge, industry insights, and real-world applications that prepare them for professional success.
This position requires individuals who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, and helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to achieve their educational and career goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with established curriculum, learning objectives, and institutional standards.
- Facilitate engaging classroom, virtual, hybrid, or online learning experiences.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments that support student learning outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Hold office hours and provide academic support and mentoring to students.
- Integrate industry best practices, current trends, and real-world examples into instruction.
- Collaborate with academic leadership and program staff to improve curriculum and instructional delivery.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
- Support student retention, engagement, and career readiness initiatives.
- Contribute to curriculum enhancement and continuous program improvement efforts.
- Serve as a positive representative of KP’s mission, values, and commitment to student success.
Additional Responsibilities
Depending on the discipline and program needs, Adjunct Professors may:
- Support apprenticeship, internship, and experiential learning programs.
- Assist with workforce development initiatives and employer engagement activities.
- Participate in curriculum development and instructional design projects.
- Serve as subject matter experts for specialized training programs.
- Mentor students regarding career pathways, certifications, industry expectations, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with employers, industry partners, and community organizations to strengthen student outcomes.
- Participate in student recruitment, outreach, and retention initiatives when appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in the relevant academic discipline or a closely related field preferred.
- Bachelor's degree with significant professional experience may be considered for certain workforce development or technical programs.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the discipline being taught.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to engage and motivate diverse student populations.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), virtual learning platforms, and educational technologies.
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
Discipline-Specific Qualifications
Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Digital Technology Programs
Candidates teaching Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Security, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines should possess one or more of the following:
- Professional experience in cybersecurity, information technology, network administration, cloud computing, risk management, security operations, digital forensics, software development, or related technical fields.
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CySA+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, CCNA, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent credentials.
- Experience applying cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices, including NIST, NICE Framework, ISO 27001, risk management methodologies, governance frameworks, or compliance requirements.
Business, Management, and Professional Development Programs
Candidates teaching Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Project Management, Sales, or related disciplines should possess one or more of the following:
- Professional experience in business operations, corporate leadership, strategic planning, human resources, finance, marketing, sales, project management, consulting, or entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary business practices, organizational development, workforce planning, change management, and business technology solutions.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR, Six Sigma, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Management Consultant (CMC), or equivalent industry credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous college-level teaching, training, or instructional experience.
- Experience in online and hybrid learning environments.
- Curriculum development or instructional design experience.
- Experience mentoring adult learners, veterans, career changers, or underserved populations.
- Experience supporting workforce development, apprenticeship, internship, or career readiness programs.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus.
Work Environment
Adjunct Professors may teach in-person, online, or hybrid courses. Schedules vary based on program offerings and student enrollment. Opportunities may be available across multiple disciplines and cohorts throughout the year.
