Job Summary
Caring Hands Ambu-Services LLC is hiring a reliable, professional, and safety-focused CDL Class B Ambulette / Paratransit Driver to provide non-emergency medical transportation services throughout New York City and Westchester County.
Our company provides dependable transportation for clients traveling to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, adult day care programs, grocery trips, residences, healthcare facilities, and other approved destinations. We serve seniors, individuals with disabilities, wheelchair users, and clients who need safe, respectful transportation assistance. Caring Hands states that it serves New York City’s five boroughs and Westchester County and provides NEMT services for medical appointments, rehab centers, and other transportation needs.
This is not a basic driving position. The driver must be punctual, patient, professional, and properly licensed to transport passengers who may require mobility assistance. The right candidate must understand that safety, compassion, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, adult day care programs, nursing facilities, residences, grocery trips, and other approved destinations.
Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle in a safe, respectful, and professional manner.
Operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, ramps, lifts, seatbelts, and wheelchair securement systems.
Properly secure wheelchairs, mobility devices, and passengers before transport.
Follow dispatch instructions, assigned routes, appointment schedules, and company procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional vehicle environment at all times.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, delays, incidents, accidents, or client concerns immediately.
Communicate professionally with clients, caregivers, family members, facility staff, dispatchers, and management.
Complete trip logs, inspection sheets, mileage records, and required transportation paperwork accurately.
Follow all traffic laws, company safety policies, HIPAA/privacy expectations, and passenger-care standards.

Required Qualifications
Valid NYS CDL Class B license required.
Passenger endorsement strongly preferred and may be required depending on assigned vehicle.
Valid DOT Medical Card / Medical Examiner’s Certificate, if applicable.
Valid TLC Paratransit Driver License, or ability to obtain before starting, if required for assigned work.
Must meet applicable NYC TLC / paratransit driver requirements. NYC TLC lists paratransit driver qualifications including a valid DMV chauffeur license in Commercial Classes A, B, or C, no more than 5 DMV points within a 15-month period, and active 19-A status.
Must be in active NYS DMV Article 19-A status, if required for assigned vehicle or contract.
Clean driving record.
Must be able to pass motor vehicle record review.
Must be able to pass background check.
Must be able to pass drug screening.
Must be able to pass medical/physical clearance.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be professional, dependable, punctual, patient, and respectful.
Must be able to assist passengers with limited mobility.
Must be able to safely operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement equipment.
Preferred Experience
Prior ambulette driving experience.
Prior paratransit driving experience.
Prior wheelchair van driving experience.
Prior medical transportation or NEMT experience.
Prior experience transporting elderly clients, disabled clients, wheelchair passengers, or clients with mobility limitations.
Prior bus, shuttle, school bus, transit, livery, black car, or professional passenger transportation experience.
Experience working with Medicaid transportation, MAS trips, healthcare facilities, adult day care centers, nursing homes, or rehabilitation centers.
Preferred Certifications / Credentials
Passenger “P” endorsement.
TLC Paratransit Driver License.
NYS DMV Article 19-A qualification.
Defensive Driving Certificate.
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle training.
Wheelchair securement training.
Passenger Assistance / Passenger Service and Safety certification.
CPR certification.
First Aid certification.
HIPAA / patient privacy training.
Ambulette or NEMT transportation training.
Drug and alcohol testing compliance, if applicable.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
Ability to assist passengers entering and exiting vehicles.
Ability to push, pull, guide, and secure wheelchairs and mobility devices.
Ability to operate wheelchair ramps, lifts, seatbelts, and securement systems.
Ability to bend, stand, walk, lift, and move as needed throughout the shift.
Ability to remain calm and professional when assisting elderly passengers, disabled passengers, or passengers needing extra care.
Schedule
Full-time and part-time schedules may be available.
Drivers must be available for assigned shifts and must report on time.
Weekend availability is preferred.
Flexibility is preferred due to client appointment schedules and transportation needs.
Compensation
Pay is based on experience, licensing, certifications, availability, and qualifications.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
