Full Job Description

About the Position

We are looking for a kind, dependable, and compassionate person to spend time with my great-grandmother while her Shared Living Provider is at work, attending appointments, or running errands. This is a very relaxed, low-stress position focused primarily on companionship, safety, and helping make her days enjoyable.

My great-grandmother is a retired Surgical Room Nurse who has spent her life caring for others. She enjoys conversation, car rides, being outdoors, short walks, and simply spending time with people. We are looking for someone who can help keep her engaged, comfortable, and feeling valued throughout the day.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a stay-at-home parent, retiree, college student, or anyone looking for meaningful part-time work. Children are welcome to accompany you, as she genuinely enjoys having young people around and watching families interact.

For candidates who seem like a good fit, I will gladly share more personal information about her life, personality, routines, and interests.

Responsibilities

Provide companionship and conversation throughout the day
Accompany her on short walks, outdoor sitting, or car rides when appropriate
Encourage participation in enjoyable activities based on her interests and energy level
Help her safely get in and out of bed if she is still sleeping when I leave for work
Occasionally assist her with walking to and from the bathroom
Monitor her safety and well-being while providing a calm and supportive presence
Offer reminders and gentle encouragement with daily routines
Communicate any concerns, changes, or observations to family members
Create a positive, comfortable, and enjoyable environment

Ideal Candidate

Kind, patient, and dependable
Enjoys spending time with elderly individuals
Comfortable providing light mobility assistance
Has a positive attitude and good communication skills
Reliable transportation preferred
Experience with seniors is helpful but not required
Comfortable around children and family environments
Able to treat her with dignity, respect, and compassion

What This Position Is Not

This is not a high-demand nursing or medical caregiving role. Most days involve companionship, conversation, light assistance, and helping her enjoy her day. We are simply looking for someone who can provide support, company, and peace of mind while family members are unavailable.
