Full Job Description

Design for the Mission. Engineer for the Fight.

At BNL Industries, Inc., we design and build fluid system components that power the world’s most advanced fighting ships- from stealth submarines to aircraft carriers, destroyers to LPDs. If it sails into harm’s way, chances are we’ve helped make it battle-ready. We also serve the nuclear power industry, helping keep the lights on with safe, clean energy.

We’re looking for an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer to join our close-knit team. This is a chance to make your mark on programs that matter- designing for performance, safety, and durability in the most demanding environments on Earth (and under it).

Responsibilities

Interpret and apply military standards, ASME/ANSI codes, and defense/nuclear contract requirements in the design of mission-critical fluid system components.
Create manufacturing drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and perform basic stress or structural calculations.
Evaluate material compatibility (corrosion, pressure, temperature, radiation) for new and modified designs.
Partner with machinists, quality inspectors, and production teams to bring designs from concept to delivery.
Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, fixture design, assembly methods, and waste reduction.
Travel occasionally (up to 20%) to support testing, suppliers, or program reviews.

Skills

Required:

B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
Experience with 3D CAD (preferably Autodesk Inventor or similar).
Basic familiarity with CNC machine capabilities and programming principles.
Solid understanding of materials, mechanical design, and production workflows.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
U.S. Citizenship (required due to defense contracts).
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Preferred:

2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME NQA-1, or 10CFR50 Appendix B quality systems.
Experience in naval or nuclear programs a plus.
Familiarity with Model-Based Definition (MBD) concepts is beneficial.
