Title: Controller (Confidential Search) | Long Term Care | Brooklyn NY

The Opportunity

Are you a sharp healthcare finance leader who knows long-term care inside and out? Can you close a clean set of books each month and confidently stand behind every number?

Our client is a premier, non-profit skilled nursing facility (SNF) and certified home health agency (CHHA) in Brooklyn. They need a hands-on Controller to lead accounting function, multi-entity financials, and serve as a trusted partner to their executive leadership team.

What You Will Own

Financial Command: Own the monthly close calendar across both our SNF and CHHA entities to deliver pristine, reconciled trial balances and handle intercompany eliminations.
Regulatory Compliance: Direct critical NYS and federal deliverables, including the NYS Cash Receipts Assessment, RHCF-4, and Medicare cost report schedules.
Audit & Controls: Prepare rock-solid workpapers for annual financial statement and pension/benefit audits. Maintain an airtight control environment.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and elevate our staff accountant to ensure maximum efficiency and proper segregation of duties.
Disbursements & Payroll: Oversee accounts payable, authorize wire transfers, and review complex union/CBA-driven payroll runs and benefit fund remittances.

What You Bring to the Table

Long-Term Care Expertise: Must have current, strong healthcare accounting experience specifically within skilled nursing/long-term care and subacute care environments.
The Track Record: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance paired with 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 2+ years as a lead Controller or Assistant Controller.
Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel wizardry (pivots, lookups, complex data sets) and deep experience managing modern general ledger and ERP systems.
Compliance Mindset: Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP, multi-entity accounting, union payrolls, Form 941, and NYS-45 filings.
Credentials: A CPA license is highly encouraged and valued, but your deep sector expertise matters most.
Presence: A meticulous eye for detail, a strong control mindset, and the communication skills to confidently explain variances to leadership, auditors, and state regulators.

Working Conditions

Full-time, exempt, completely on-site position at the Brooklyn corporate office.
Standard business hours with the dedication to working extended hours during peak month-end close, audit cycles, and regulatory filing deadlines.
