Crown Town Landscapes helps values-driven homeowners transform their properties into beautiful, environmentally responsible landscapes.
Our work connects landscape design, installation, maintenance, composting, and farming into one system. The organic waste we collect is turned into nutrient-rich compost that feeds both the landscapes we build and our farm, which grows local produce, via our sister companies Crown Town Compost and Crown Town Farm.
Through this work, we help create closed-loop homes that reflect our clients’ values while actively improving the health of the natural environment.
Our goal is to build a company that produces:
- Exceptional landscapes
- Healthy soil
- Local food
- Meaningful work for our team
Our Values
Stay Grounded— Trust, accommodate and be candid. The highest success is shared success.
Be About It— Hard work is just about the only thing that works.
Obstacles Are the Way— Challenges will come. Choose to learn.
People First— Serve others and the rest will fall into place.
No Finish Line— We can always do better. We can always do more.
The Problem This Role Solves
As Crown Town’s design volume and project complexity grow, we need more than a skilled designer — we need someone who can own the design process at a senior level and actively raise the bar for how our team works.
Design tools and AI capabilities are evolving faster than most organizations can adopt them. Without someone leading that integration intentionally, we fall behind — slower proposals, less compelling presentations, and missed opportunities to deliver a better client experience.
The Senior Designer exists to own complex, high-stakes projects from consultation through closeout, and to push the boundaries of how design and AI tools are used across the team.
When this role is working well:
- Complex, large-scale projects are executed with a level of design quality that sets Crown Town apart
- AI tools are being used proactively to accelerate design production, enhance client presentations, and improve team workflows
- Plant lists, material orders, and vendor coordination are accurate, organized, and never a source of project delays
- Clients move through the design process with confidence, clarity, and excitement about what’s coming
- Installation teams have exactly what they need — the right plans, the right materials, the right information
- The design team has a senior resource who raises the standard through example and collaboration
Role Purpose
The Senior Designer leads the design of Crown Town’s most complex and high-value projects — taking full ownership from initial consultation through approved design and handoff to Operations. This role is client-facing, detail-oriented, and deeply collaborative with the Sales and Operations teams.
Equally important, the Senior Designer is Crown Town’s point person for AI integration in the design workflow. This is not a passive user of existing tools — it’s someone who actively explores, tests, and implements AI capabilities to make the team faster, the designs better, and the client experience more compelling.
This is a senior-level role. It carries ownership, not just execution.
Core Responsibilities
A. Project Design & Client Ownership
- Lead design on complex, large-scale, and high-value residential projects
- Conduct site assessments and client consultations to inform design decisions and project planning
- Develop innovative landscape designs aligned with client needs, site conditions, budget, and Crown Town’s design vision
- Stay current on design trends, new materials, plant varieties, and industry best practices
- Present designs to clients with confidence and refine based on feedback
- Assist in creating and maintaining Crown Town’s design “guardrails” — the standards within which all designs are developed
- Own the project through to installation handoff, ensuring design intent is communicated clearly to the field
B. 3D Modeling, Site Planning & Rendering
- Produce accurate site plans and construction documents using CAD/design software (VectorWorks preferred; strong candidates with experience in comparable tools such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Morpholio, or Adobe Creative Suite are encouraged to apply)
- Build detailed 3D models that communicate spatial relationships, materials, and grading to clients and crews
- Create high-quality renderings and visualizations that bring designs to life in client presentations
- Ensure plans are technically accurate: grades, drainage, dimensions, plant specifications, and material details
- Ensure timely delivery of project plans and maintain organized, properly archived design files
C. AI Integration & Workflow Innovation
- Serve as Crown Town’s lead on AI tool adoption within the design workflow — this is a core part of the role, not a bonus skill
- Identify, test, and implement AI tools that accelerate design production, enhance renderings, improve client communication, or reduce repetitive work
- Develop and document AI-assisted workflows that can be adopted by the broader design team
- Stay current on emerging AI capabilities in landscape design, visualization, and proposal development
- Bring a mindset of continuous experimentation — if there’s a better way to do something, find it
D. Plant & Material Management
- Manage and update plant lists, ensuring accuracy and alignment with each project’s design
- Research and confirm plant inventory availability to support project timelines
- Maintain the supplier catalog and actively identify new vendors and material sources
- Assist in the procurement of plant orders, hardscape materials, and specialty items
- Review and reconcile plant and material orders against finalized designs to ensure accuracy
- Coordinate with vendors to confirm order details, delivery schedules, and pricing
- Track order fulfillment and ensure timely delivery of materials to installation sites
E. Installation Coordination & Field Follow-Through
- Communicate with installation teams to ensure they have the correct design plans and material lists
- Follow up on-site to ensure installations are progressing according to the design plan
- Partner with Operations to ensure designs are field-ready and clearly communicated to install crews
G. Proposal Development & Administrative Support
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager to develop proposals that are visually compelling and accurately scoped
- Ensure design packages are complete, organized, and ready for client presentation
- Assist with scheduling design meetings, managing design calendars, and handling relevant email correspondence
- Support the sales process by preparing materials that move clients from concept to commitment

- High proficiency with AI tools as applied to design, visualization, or workflow — and genuine enthusiasm for pushing those capabilities further
- Strong knowledge of plants, landscaping materials, and construction techniques
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and landscape plans
