About BIS Digital

BIS Digital is a technology company which provides integrated communications and multi-media recording solutions. We “capture the record” with complete audio and video digital recording and presentation systems customized to meet the client needs. Our technology helps administrators manage courtroom and judicial proceedings as well as meetings held by city, county, state, and federal government. BIS Digital systems also play an integral role in law enforcement, public safety, and emergency management operations, including 911.

We design systems with fully integrated audio-visual (AV) capabilities for optimal workflow and efficiency. Founded in 1982, BIS Digital has the knowledge and experience gained through our large customer base to build the perfect AV system from concept to completion for any environment. We handle everything from planning and design to installation and service. Moreover, we’ll make sure staff is properly trained on using the system to master its operation.

Position:

Field Technician

The Field Technician (FT) will perform various roles providing installation, customer service and support for all BIS Digital clients. This includes installing new audio-visual (AV) equipment and software, troubleshooting existing systems, conducting service calls for repairs, as well as providing both remote and onsite support. This position requires the FT to go onsite to customer locations and may require extensive travel within an assigned state or area. Additional work is required from a home office. The FT will spend 50-75% of their time onsite at customer locations within the assigned state or region. Occasional travel to other US locations may be required.

Responsibilities:

The job responsibilities of the Field Technician include but are not limited to the following:

Installation, troubleshooting and repair of integrated audio-visual systems, networks and recording software in commercial and government facilities. The FT installs low-voltage commercial audio & video solutions including large wall-mounted monitors, LCD/ DLP video projection systems, surveillance cameras, touch panels, network switches, video control and distribution systems, and sound systems including speakers; pulling and terminating cables; and harnessing racks and patch bays. The FT will also install and service software solutions onsite and remotely.
Field Technicians will routinely pull wiring for LAN, video and audio systems. Terminating and testing of audio and data cables including: Cat6, Coax, Microphone and Speaker cabling is required.
Field Technicians will build and harness racks for audio-visual components as well as test, troubleshoot and commission installations in accordance with company standards. The FT will also routinely service and repair systems racks.
Analyze workflow drawings for the purpose of determining signal paths. Read architectural drawings to determine conduit pathways if needed.
Complete onsite equipment inventory for projects, verifying receipt of equipment.
Conduct service or repair calls as needed including acting as vendor liaison for any onsite RMA’s.
Assist with other installation tasks as determined by Lead Field Technicians.
Perform or assist with setup and configuration of DSP, VTC, Video Presentation equipment etc.
Completes software installation according to guidelines. Tests all installed software components to ensure functionality
Provide training for end-user customers on installed systems or software.
Reviews installation documents with customer and obtains sign off upon completion.
Ensures compliance with documentation requirements for all installations and service calls is timely and accurate in the CRM.
Participates in focused training programs to improve technical knowledge.
Provide high level of customer support, including phone support.
Will routinely work independently, be self-directed and make sound decisions based on customer satisfaction
Represent the high professional standards of the organization while onsite at customer locations and maintain brand standards. This includes arriving on time, professional dress, and appearance, and maintaining a clean workspace free of debris and garbage.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Audio-Visual (AV) or sound engineering degree or equivalent certification preferred including two-year diploma from a Technical School, or equivalent experience.
A CTS certification from AVIXA and/or other manufacturer-based certifications is a plus (AMX, Biamp, Crestron, ClearOne, Extron, Polycom, etc.)
Prior experience pulling audio and data cabling preferably in a commercial space. Low-Voltage certification is a plus.
Terminating and testing of audio and data cables including: Cat6, Coax, Microphone and Speaker cabling.
Familiarity with Audio/Video signal flow required.
Soldering experience preferred.
Prior customer service experience required.
Two (2) years’ experience with audio-visual, corporate video, or other related systems.
Knowledge of systems and technology preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, kneel and/or crouch for long periods of time
Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding
Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds
Must be able to work in high places, as well as small, cramped places
Must be comfortable working in a construction environment (wearing PPE, dusty/unclean workspace, lack of climate control)
Travel up to 75% of the time mostly within your region but sometimes to other US locations.
Good driving record
