Position Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that promotes a culture of safety across all company operations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies while reducing workplace injuries, improving operational safety, and supporting field operations through training, inspections, and proactive risk management. The Safety Manager will work closely with operations leaders and field employees to ensure safe work practices across all job sites and company facilities.
Travel Requirement: Approximately 25% travel to branch locations and job sites.
Essential Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and required regulatory records.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Safety Training
- Develop and conduct new hire safety orientation and ongoing employee safety training.
- Deliver toolbox talks, refresher training, and specialized safety programs.
- Coordinate OSHA-required training and maintain employee training records.
- Promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous education.
Field Audits & Site Visits
- Perform routine and unannounced safety inspections, spot checks, and job site audits.
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Partner with supervisors to improve safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Provide coaching and support to field personnel on safe work procedures.
Vehicle Safety & Fleet Support
- Support the Fleet Manager with administration of the company's vehicle safety program.
- Assist the Fleet Manager with fleet safety assessments and inspections.
- Review driver qualifications, motor vehicle records, and accident history, alongside the Fleet Manager.
- Asssit with Investigations of vehicle incidents and recommend corrective actions to reduce risk.
- Work with Fleet Manager and operations to improve driver safety and vehicle maintenance compliance.
Risk Management
- Support HR with workers' compensation claims management and return-to-work programs.
- Monitor and analyze injury trends and recommend preventive strategies.
- Support insurance audits and safety-related compliance initiatives.
- Work to improve the company's Experience Modification Rate (EMR) through proactive safety initiatives.
Collaboration
- Partner with Human Resources, operations managers, branch leadership, and field supervisors to ensure consistent implementation of safety standards.
- Participate in safety committees and leadership meetings.
- Serve as the company's safety resource for employees at all levels.
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrated success managing safety programs in landscaping, construction, or other field service industries.
- OSHA 10 Certification required.
- First Aid Certification required.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
- Experience conducting safety training and employee education programs.
- Experience performing job site inspections, safety audits, and spot checks.
- Experience managing vehicle safety programs and fleet safety assessments.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation processes, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
- Experience improving and managing Experience Modification Rate (EMR) performance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with field employees and management.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% to company locations and job sites.
Preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or other safety certification.
- Experience in landscaping, tree care, irrigation, or green industry operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk active job sites over uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to drive to multiple job sites and branch locations.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
