Full Job Description

Family Solutions Practice Management is looking to hire a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide occupational therapy treatment services to pediatric patients!

Family Solutions Practice Management (FSPM) is a multidisciplinary behavioral health entity based out of Monroe, LA. Through our Pediatric Therapy Center, FSPM offers a wide wide range of services and therapies designed to assist children in overcoming developmental delays and other challenges. We offer physical therapy to improve muscle control and coordination, speech therapy to boost language skills, and occupational therapy to improve sensory processing and fine motor skills.

Our dedicated and compassionate staff is here to help kids reach their full potential. We work with a full spectrum of clients, including children with congenital conditions, specialized needs, and kids who are recovering from health issues, all with the goal of putting our patients on the path to a full, happy, and healthy life. Our therapy programs are specially designed for pediatric patients, created by experts to be fun and exciting so kids enjoy their sessions rather than seeing them as a chore.

We are expanding our existing services to include Occupational Therapy services for the children receiving services at our Autism Clinics in Monroe, West Monroe, and Ruston. We are looking for a motivated, competent Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant for full time or part time/PRN employment as we continue our mission of providing the best possible care to children in need in our region!

SUMMARY: The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) works under the direction of the Occupational Therapist in providing care to the mentally and physically disabled. The COTA assists patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance physical and mental performance and facilitates learning of skills essential for adaptation of an altered life style. The COTA is responsible for working with the OT and other health professionals in achieving goals related to meeting the individual's maximum independence in functional activities following a life-altering illness or disability. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK FRIDAYS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The occupational therapist assistant implements appropriate treatment techniques per the plan of care to maximize patient function. Treatment techniques include but are not limited to activities of daily living, exercises, ROM, coordination, cognitive/perceptual remediation, functional mobility training and use of orthopedic and prosthetic devices.

2. Adapts conventional therapy techniques to meet the needs of patient. Adaptations are based on the patients’ and families’ physical and cognitive capabilities, intelligence level, interests, and discharge plans.

3. Provides patient care in a safe and therapeutic environment by maintaining the privacy of the patients and families as described by HIPAA standards.

4. Provides education to the patients and family members from admission to discharge by providing individualized instructions to maximize function.

5. Demonstrates competency and knowledge of current standards of practice within the profession. Actively pursue continuing education and professional development activities.

6. Engages in continuous quality improvement activities to evaluate compliance to standards, policies and procedures, and identifies strategies to improve patient care.

7. Securing liability insurance.

8. On date of session, documents patients’ evaluation of progress on EHR through daily SOAP notes and on flow charts in soft chart system.

9. Maintains patient confidentiality by keeping information private as described by HIPAA standards.

10. Completes at least the minimum supervision requirements for students/interns on site, as assigned by OT director.

11. Maintains a working knowledge of all Family Solutions services and capabilities offered to the community.

12. Above all, I will exceed the expectations of my patients, their families, and my co-workers by consistently doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Equivalent or graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of Louisiana.
CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
