GSI is the premier geohazard mitigation firm specializing in emergency slope stabilization, landslide repair, grouting, and micropiles through innovative design-build delivery. THE ROLE

At GeoStabilization International, we're building the next generation of casing drilling specialists. As a Driller Helper, you're the foundation of our crew—learning the craft while directly supporting mission-critical deep foundation and geohazard mitigation work.

You'll work alongside experienced Casing Drillers, assisting with rig setup, casing handling, drill spotting, grout support, and site preparation. This is hands-on training in a real work environment where precision, safety, and quality matter from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Rig Support & Site Operations

Assist with rig setup and teardown—positioning equipment, connecting components, and prepping work areas
Handle and position casing materials safely (4" to 12")—proper lifting technique, clear communication with the Casing Driller
Load and organize drill steel, couplers, and bits in the correct sequence
Spot for drill rigs and equipment operators using correct hand signals—keeping sight lines clear and safe
Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization throughout the shift

Grout Support & Documentation

Assist with grout mixing following the Casing Driller's direction—understanding mix ratios and proportions
Help set up grout pump systems, inspect fittings and hoses, monitor for leaks
Record field information accurately—grout volumes, material quantities, daily activity notes
Complete equipment inspection checklists and report defects immediately
Use company software (FastField, B2W) to log entries on time and accurately

Safety & Teamwork

Wear the correct PPE 100% of the shift without being reminded—hard hat, gloves, boots, respiratory, eye, and hearing protection
Review safety documents daily (SSSP, WIN Plans, JHA) and identify hazards before they escalate
Keep the work area organized and report unsafe conditions immediately
Ask questions, seek feedback, and take coaching to improve your skills

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Willingness to learn. You don't need years of drilling experience, but you need the humility to ask questions and the discipline to follow through.
Physical capability. Regular lifting of 50+ lbs, outdoor work in all conditions (mountains, deserts, variable climates), and the stamina for construction-site environments.
Safety first mentality. You spot hazards, report them, and never take shortcuts. Safety is non-negotiable.
Attention to detail. In this work, small mistakes compound. We need people who care about precision and documentation.
Reliability. Show up on time, prepared, and ready to work. We work across the U.S. and you'll need to commit to extensive travel (up to 100%).
Team player. You'll be working closely with experienced drillers and crews. Respect their expertise, pitch in, and support the mission.

PREREQUISITES

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively (up to 100% across the U.S.)
Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and work in outdoor, variable conditions
Willingness to obtain and maintain OSHA 10-Hour certification (paid by GSI)
No specific drilling experience required—we train the right attitude over experience

ADVANCEMENT TO CASING DRILLER

After demonstrating GMT 2 level competency and receiving your Superintendent's recommendation, you can advance into our Casing Driller specialty track. This means independent rig operation, full equipment responsibility, crew leadership, and significantly higher earning potential. Most Driller Helpers advance within 12–24 months of consistent performance.

WORK & TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

Outdoor work in climbing, desert, and variable weather conditions
Typical construction-site hazards—noise, heavy equipment, uneven terrain
Regular physical work including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods
Extensive travel—up to 100% of the time across the U.S. (all expenses paid by GSI)
Shift work—typically early mornings and variable site schedules

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is an hourly role with clear advancement to higher pay tiers:

$25–$29 per hour based on experience and location
