Full Job Description

The Maintenance Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer will develop and maintain the full documentation library to support the maintenance program at the Belimo North American facilities (Danbury, Sparks, Stratford). This role will report directly to the Production Maintenance Manager and collaborate closely with the Planner/Coordinator and the broader maintenance team to develop standard operating procedures, work instructions, and preventive maintenance documentation that support a safe, efficient, and compliant operation.

What You'll Do

Write clear, accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance tasks across all equipment and systems at the North American facilities (Danbury, Sparks, Stratford)
Develop step-by-step work instructions for technicians to follow when performing routine and corrective maintenance jobs
Create Preventive Maintenance procedure documents to accompany PM tasks built in the EAM CMMS, ensuring technicians have written guidance for every scheduled task
Develop and audit Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for all applicable equipment in compliance with OSHA standards
Review and interpret OEM equipment manuals, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to produce accurate, usable documentation
Collaborate with Production Maintenance Manager, Planner/Clerk, and lead technicians to validate accuracy of all written procedures
Organize and maintain the physical and digital documentation library, version control, naming conventions, and document management
Support technician onboarding by developing training materials and procedure quick-reference guides
Routinely audit, revise and update documentation as equipment, processes, or regulations change

Who You Are

2+ years of experience in technical writing within a manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance environment or; Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or a technical field or; Technical Writing certification
Demonstrated ability to write SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures from OEM documentation and subject matter expert input
Strong understanding of manufacturing maintenance operations and equipment terminology
Experience writing or reviewing LOTO procedures in compliance with OSHA
Excellent written communication skills — ability to translate complex technical content into clear, concise language for technician-level readers
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and document management systems
Some travel required (5-10%)

Preferred qualifications

Experience supporting a new facility launch or greenfield startup environment
Familiarity with manufacturing environments
Experience working alongside a CMMS implementation, ability to align written procedures with PM tasks in the system
Knowledge of ISO or other quality management documentation standards a plus

Belimo is committed to paying all employees in a fair, equitable and transparent manner. The base pay for this position ranges from $65,000 - $75,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 7% of an employee’s annual base salary. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
